Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd, a Malaysian lottery operator owned by Berjaya Corp, rose for a third day in Kuala Lumpur trading after confirming talks about a potential strategic investor for the company on Dec. 23.

The shares added 1.6 per cent to RM4.38 at 9:13 a.m. local time, set for their highest close since June 24.

KUALA LUMPUR: BERJAYA SPORTS TOTO BHD [] has confirmed there has been preliminary discussions within the company on a possible corporate exercise which may result in the entry of a strategic investor.

The company said on Thursday, Dec 23 that while there had been initial contact with several potential strategic investors, no negotiations have been conducted with any strategic investor at this juncture.

BToto explained there were no negotiations since the internal discussions and planning were still ongoing.

The company was confirming a report in The Edge Financial Daily which appeared on Thursday entitled “Possibility of strategic investors for BToto”.

“Shareholders should take note that the corporate exercise may or may not come to fruition and hence they should take this into account in making any investment decisions. A detailed announcement will be made in due course should parties succeed to come to terms,” said BToto.

BToto however clarified that Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, who is the chairman/CEO of BERJAYA CORPORATION BHD [] had not personally purchased any BToto shares in the period from June 2010 to-date.

It said Tan had instead sold 39.8 million BToto shares from his personal holdings during the period. BCorp is the ultimate holding company of BToto.

“BCorp and its subsidiary companies had purchased BToto shares in the open market as stated in the article and consequently, Vincent Tan being a substantial shareholder of BCorp is deemed to have an interest in these purchases,” it said.

Executive wins RM20.6mil Sports Toto jackpot
PETALING JAYA: An executive won a whopping RM20.6mil in a lottery jackpot on Labour Day Sunday.

The winner, who is in his 40s, said it was the best Labour Day present he had ever received and claimed he would not quit his job even after winning the Power Toto 6/55 lotto game.

"At the point of claiming his prize money, he said he hasn't any serious plans for his multi-million ringgit windfall other than upgrading his house, settling his loans and then travelling around Asia, as he likes Asia most when it comes to holidays," said Sports Toto Malaysia in a statement Thursday.

On his chosen numbers, the winner said it was a combination of birthdays and ages of his family members he had been betting on for months.

According to the statement, the executive said he would be very careful with the use of his newfound fortune, adding that he would keep a large part of the money in the bank to earn interest.

Should we expecting Profit taking today?

Based on past history it is quarterly. But the dividen $$ has been diminishing this year.. from 8cents to 3 cents only for this quarter

As a conclusion buy their product is better than their stock

Hopefully BJtoto can maintain their dividen pay out of 8 sen per quarter.

BJTOTO has been oscillating between RM4 to RM4.4 for the past 6 months.
RM4.18 it is a good price to cumulate. After all this is a dividen counter. Just my opinion.
