dual audio output.. does it have separate setting for separate output?

eg

output 1: optical, tick DD, DTS
output 2: hdmi, 7.1 lpcm

Could you please give us the md5 of the downloaded file? Do not delete it yet.

If it is similar to the md5 provided by Sony, there must be some error during the unpacking/installing.

Please check at the firmware info in PS3 setting to make sure whether it is still on old firmware or on 3.00.

i want the md5 hash/signature of the downloaded file to narrow down whether the corrupt update is caused by bad download or bad unpacking/installing or the console itself is already dying and this is all just a coincidence like nwk stated above.

for the resolution, i suggest you to unplug the power at the back and wait a few minutes before trying again. and also try to turn on without the internal hdd.

it is same with the one on sony server.. so i guess it might be hardware problem instead of software. no other choice except going for ylod repairers maybe you are lucky and it could be revived

they did take PSN down for maintenance before the 3.00. so maybe they have upgraded something in the psn back-end. mine is around 95+ now. will try adding more people
