I'm using old vios 2004.
Changed my abs+spring(Koni+Eibach).
Changed rims and tyres to 205/45/16 (RE001).
Feel abit bumpy.
Can my lowered car be fitted with 205/50/16?
Thanks

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Mar 5 2011, 01:50 PM) you can get softer sidewall tires... Hankook V8rs... RE001 is a lil hard.. PS3 still ok ok... but if your ride is lower i think it is a lil hard too... too bad Hankook V12 does not have your size... How much difference between RE001 and PS3, in terms of comfort and noise?that size should be over the 3% of the OE size... so, u mean that the old vios can't fit with 205/50/16 tyres? mine is 2 fingers at the back. Added on March 5, 2011, 8:48 pm QUOTE(noprob @ Mar 5 2011, 03:16 PM) The bumpiness might also caused by ur new suspension setup , the Eibach . yeah, it could be.The spring rate u using is important . I doubt it by changing the tires spec will eliminate the problem I thought eibach spring is quite close to stock spring compared to other lower spring. I also try set all my front and rear absorber to softest. I can't really feel the bumpy ride coming from the suspesion, but i do feel the hardness of my tyres everytime going through bumps. That's y i thought it could be the tyre profile or brand. This post has been edited by Amal: Mar 5 2011, 08:49 PM |

QUOTE(Achilies @ Mar 5 2011, 09:54 PM) well everybody knows cheap is good?!! yup... at first i thought there will be just a slight difference in comfort, that's y wanna try performance since I like to go fast. and the expensive depend on our drive routine either we are the light or heavy road user. now felt like changing back to 15" and get a primacy LC tyres instead. Added on March 5, 2011, 11:32 pm QUOTE(Achilies @ Mar 5 2011, 10:12 PM) Lets begin with how to read the Tyre specification on the side wall of tyres. Thanks for the info! 1. Tyre brand name 2. Pattern or model code 3. Tyre size 4. Service description (Load index & Speed symbol) 5. ECE or EEC type approval number** 6. ECE noise approval 7. North American recall code 8. Date of manufacture code 9. UTQG quality rating 10. Maximum permitted load (USA) 11. Maximum permitted inflation pressure (USA) 12. Denotes tubeless construction 13. Safety warning 14. Direction of rotation (Directional or Composite tyres) 15. Rim fitment instruction (Asymmetrical or Composite tyres) 16. Denotes extra load tyre construction 16a. Denotes reinforced tyre construction 17. Position of tread wear indicators. **(C & U regulations stipulate all tyres used in the UK must carry an E number) Added on March 5, 2011, 11:42 pm QUOTE(michael9413 @ Mar 5 2011, 10:26 PM) no it is over the 3% rule compare to the OE size... which will affect your Speedometer & ABS functionality... yup, I know it will affect the speedometer... but didn't know it will be too significant... PS3 should be slightly better in comfort... but those tires is more towards performance and the sidewall will not be soft... V12 is performance tires but it is soft... so does most of the Toyo performance tires... also when I meant whether it can fit is that the tyres will hit the fender or not... after done some checking, it will hit... guess i better stick with the same size (205/45/16) right now or change back to my previous 195/55/15 size tyre if i cannot tahan the comfort.. gonna do research on Hankook V12 and Toyo tyres, see whether it can do something... Thanks bro. This post has been edited by Amal: Mar 5 2011, 11:42 PM |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Mar 6 2011, 03:27 AM) prefer Hankook V12 coz Toyo's tires wet grip is so so only... Ooopss... I forgot...BTW stick you 15" if you still need a lil comfort... That is the reason why i did not change my Vios's (yr 05) rim to 16"... 16" onwards the ride comfort suffers then price is expensive, plus lowered i can feel the ouch on the butt... took a ride on a lowered new Vios J b4, with lowered Titan Spring (front) and Titan shocks/abs all round... he uses 195/55 R15 Federal 595 Evo... the ride is slightly bumpy but still bearable for me... if you want a lil comfort change back to 195/55 R15, but i duno your comfort tolerance so i suggested u to take PS3 1st instead of RE001 or GSD3... used Hankook V12 b4 on my stock ride, it gives me comfort but don like the handling and the Hydroplaning is not up to my expectation maybe our car too light... now on PS3 think overall is better... is up to you now... The reason I changed my rims to 16" is because of 15" is abit more lowered until my car hit the road bump and also at a steep parking lot where my car touches the body... But yeah, my ride is not much bumpy and abit comfortable when with the 15" 195/55/15... ur friends car is the new vios, probably abit high than the old vios? Still, will have a look at the PS3... |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Mar 6 2011, 05:44 PM) PS3 i don think u will gain any comfort on 16"... really ka? then no point lar like this... if you calculate properly the diameter of 195/55 R15 and 205/45 R16 is not much difference... so your car height is not affected much... guess i have to live with it then... yup, it is almost identical, but abit higher i guess... tried putting it side by side... just a lil bit only... tried the same bump that i go through using my previous 15", amazingly no more touching with the 16"... there are 2 high bumps that I tested... today i felt my ride just abit softer then before... could it be because its still new that the tyre is abit hard? today is the 5th day... |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Mar 7 2011, 08:59 AM) well what is your tires now??? sorry did not know what model are you using now... my current tires is RE001.maybe the tires that you are using at 15" is soft also... the pressure maybe is too soft too... how many PSI are you on during 15" (195/55 R15) tires... yup, probably my previous tires is soft and also due to less pressure, didn't check that exactly but i guess so... now felt that my ride is quite acceptable... still bumpy, but less than before... |

QUOTE(michael9413 @ Mar 7 2011, 09:03 PM) try to lower ur pressure a lil... but mostly 16" setup tire pressure need to increase a lil also (35 PSI maybe)... depends on your preference... just make sure it is not under inflated... or the shocks and springs is too hard... coz Vios is a light car, the more harder the shocks are the more bumpy will be... Will do that...Thanks bro for the advice... |
