I thot Re001 is performance tire, so very noisy?
*
when you come to the noise term is very subjective... coz diff ppl have diff requirement...
you try to use PP2 i think that tire is ok for you... it have harder side wall, but wit ur suspension it should be ok...
I used with my Vios 05 2 set... ok la... slightly bumpy... since new Vios will be more softer it should be ok...
the noise will increase after 50% of wear but still ok for me... smile.gif

soft tire also... since you did not corner hard you can use softer side wall tire also...
Michelin Primacy LC, Yokohaam C Drive, Falken 912, Hankook V12...
Hankook V12 and Falken 912 is cheaper around RM180 can get already...
Yokohama C Drive and Michelin Primacy LC is a bit expensive... RM200 and above...

QUOTE(the_catacombs @ Aug 13 2009, 02:42 PM)
i tried 55 series on my current suspension... damn bumpy... i sendiri also pening after few hours of driving... rclxub.gif
now after 50% of the tyre, heavy rain dun dare go above 140kmh d lo... especially if hit some standing water sure sway... lolz...
soft sidewall mar unker... wira heavy car... some more u join GRA...
but if u get used to the tyre flex, the dry level grip should be great for GRA...
*
bro what you wan... after 50% and you are driving 140 woh... haha... very fast leh... smile.gif
but it is better than other kind in this UHP categories la...

which tire you tired??? PP2??? try Hankook V12... which has softer side wall you will not feel bumpy... smile.gif

comfort or not still depends on the tire characteristic la...
if think if Hankook V12 on 50 series also it will be quite ok...
since the side wall is softer than PP2...

@the_catacombs,
NCT5 don say la... 45 series sure u don wanna go thru those bumpy roads...

very hard to get that price for 16"...
you can try Federal or Hankook V12...
Hankook V12 only cost around RM250 at 205/45 R16

at that kind of budget...
you can choose... Falken 912, Yokohama A drive, Michelin XM1 only...
if you can raise a lil maybe RM240~250... you can look for Yokohama C Drive or Michelin Primacy LC

QUOTE(cucubud @ Aug 27 2009, 06:06 PM)
How much does it cost to upgrade to 15" or 16" rims?

Might as well just go for the 14" XM1 tyres.
*
well you can just get XM1 for your tires... for rim upgrade you can go to Klang... they hv a lots of 2nd rim there...
not that expensive... got my Ori Toyota Avanza 15" for RM400 if not mistaken... maybe they can go lower now...

QUOTE(bluhapp @ Aug 27 2009, 06:48 PM)
i just bought yokohama cdrive 195/50/15 82v  for my satria.

is it a great tire in dry ? for occasional drag
*
still ok ok lo... that tire is more towards comfort... if you wanna have more grip in the dry or wet...
you have to use Michelin PP2 or Yokohama S Drive which have good traction in both condition...... or Hankook V12 for a lil more comfort...
this 3 tires is under UHP categories... if you wanna have dry tires... you can try out Bridgestone Adrenalin...

QUOTE(sukun @ Aug 28 2009, 02:13 AM)
whats the best and cheap 17" tire out there?
i wan to change mine becos the treads is getting flatter and flatter..
feels out of control sometimes when cruising high speed.. no grip at all
don tell me neova becos out of my budget..
just cheapo and reliable will do
*
cheap??? how cheap??? Hankok V12, Falken 912, Federal 595... try out these... what is your size??? 17" wat?

QUOTE(! Love Money @ Aug 28 2009, 02:29 AM)
WTA is it good to continue driving after the tyre botak? icon_question.gif
due to budget constraint i delayed to change my tyre...
now fully botak liao and i often pump air... is that a botak tyre tend to leak more air? icon_question.gif

just now driving to work, the car sway away when running over a large spot of trap water... shakehead.gif
*

195/60 R15 ori size isn't it???
you can maintain the size and change to Michelin XM1, Falken 912 or Yokohama A Drive that is for comfort and quiet ride...
for a bit expensive i believe you can try Michelin Primacy, Yokohama C Drive or Continental Premium Contact series...

if you changed to 205/50 R16 already... comfort ride is a bit hard... haha... coz 50 series tires quite hard...
you have Falken 912 on the cheaper size and Michelin Primacy LC on the lil expensive side...
depends which you want my fren...

well according to some frens whom using 17" and 18" rim it is quite good... smile.gif
of course the dry performance cannot compare with those extreme tires... but its wet handling is quite good in surprise...

well bro... 60 series is more towards passenger tires where comfort is very important... handling will lose a lil there... traction also of course lower series will be better if you purchase the correct tires...

i think you better stick to the 55 series that you are using now...
go for falken 912... which is towards comfort... or Hankook V12 which has soft side wall also...
the Michelin PP2 and Yokohama S Drive have a harder side wall which make them good in handling...
in terms of performance from 1 to 3...
1 - Goodyear NCT5, Dunlop D-01, Bridgestone MY-1...
2 - Falken 912, Hankook V12, Yokohama C Drive, Michelin Primacy LC...
3 - Yokohama S Drive, Michelin PP2, Toyo T1R

this is my summary after some feedbacks from some of the forumers...
but if you wanna see better u look for tire which have Traction AA grade... or Grade A minimal...
Traction B grade is lousy... although some of the Tire have good Traction grade it traction sucks after 40% of wearing...
like NCT5 which i used 2 set as no choice... some with the Rim/Cars...
I have use 3 set of Michelin PP series which gives me good handling and traction in wet also...
you have to choose... Comfort... Handling... and did noise is very important to you????
then u have a summary there

205/45/R16
Hankook V12 Evo - RM 255 @ Jooi Seng, Klang (May 09)
Falken Ziex ZE-912 - RM245 @ Jooi Seng, Klang (May 09)
Federal RS-R - RM350 @ Jooi Seng, Klang (Aug 09)

fren this size mostly is RM200++... you can use silverstone and dunlop...
of course we do not recomment you to use this 2... but if you budget limitation so no choice...
i don think you can get RM100++ tires for that size except you get 2nd hand tires....

QUOTE(pokgaizai @ Sep 6 2009, 08:57 PM)
guys need your opinion,  im using nct5 195/55/15 on gen2 currently.

Front 70-80% rear 60%

During rain, the rear side like gliding and sway, very licin..

what should i do..

1) buy new pair for front, front move to rear
2) use until front left 60-70%, change whole new set

Plan to get this Hankook V12 Evo, this 1 good in wet?
*
aiyo... buy 4 pcs lo... 1 time... then can get good grip....
change the back... if front turning brake also die... i have mine Ori stock of Vios changed after 50%...
cannot tahan... really it will break the traction very easily...

guys,

Between Toyo T1R , Yokohama S drive or Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3,

which one has better dry grip?

For spirited driving/hard driving.

Noise is not an issue.

Can some1 also indicate the price for Yokohama S drive and Goodyear for size 195/55/15.
*
y not try the Bridgestone Adrenalin?? it is good in dry...
it wet grip is a bit issue for you... Toyo T1R thread wear index is very low... 240 if not mistaken...
so the thread will wear off faster... pls do note about this...

Any recommendation for 164/55/R14? Currently considering V8...which seems to be cheaper and better performance...and anyone knows any Hankook tyre shop in PJ?
*
nothing else is cheaper as i told you on the Tire Price List thread... try Hankook V12... it is better but similar priced...

QUOTE(Wira_lover @ Sep 14 2009, 07:09 PM)
singapore also not yet released...AD-08.
*
ya ka... damn... i heard from ppl SG got stock... doh.gif
sorry... but i'm not waiting for it... cos hard side wall tires... suffer on ride quality...
what i want is Good dry and wet traction... then Comfort and Noise... i can't give away the wet traction and comfort...
Michelin PP2 is marginal already... but i heard from someone that S drive is similar with PP2...
but noisier coz directional thread... now duno which to buy b4 CNY... T1R, S Drive or stick back to PP2... now using V12...

205/45/R16
Hankook V12 Evo - RM 255 @ Jooi Seng, Klang (May 09)
Falken Ziex ZE-912 - RM245 @ Jooi Seng, Klang (May 09)

you only have this 2 choice which is cheap and nice...
if you wan directional thread go for V12... but sure it will be noisier than 912... its grip is better...

for comfort n quiet drive Falken 912... but you can ask for Michelin Primacy LC also... around RM300 if not mistaken...
