Hi,
Usually I'll just copy over some movies into my thumbdrive and plug it into the usb port to play them on the xbox 360. But my thumbdrive is only 4gb so i think its kinda troublesome. So my question is can I do the same with a 500gb 2.5" external harddisk (I plan to buy one if its possible) instead of a thumbdrive?

Thank you.

As long as it's formatted using FAT32, 360 can read it. 360 can't read NTFS formatted drives.

Yeay!~

That's seriously good news for me. Imagine having 500gb of movies and tv series at the fingertips! No more lagging or buffering (stream)! I can share my media collections with my officemates & family too! And most importantly, I can watch as much as I want without the need of going back n forth to my pc and xbox360 to replace with new movies! No more copying&deleting!

Thanks everyone for the input.

*Goes off to buy an external hdd*

I have an issue my current Jasper won't read external HDD 3.5" 500GB & 1TB. However my Falcon read it fine before. Does anyone have same issue as me?

500TB use cheap casing RM40 & 1TB use Cliptech casing. Before this I'm also using cheap SATA casing for 500GB before it broke & replace it with new cheap same casing & use it on Jasper & it failed to read. Since my Falcon is at my parent’s house, I don’t test it yet on Falcon.

Do take note though, FAT32 has a file size limit, 4gbs a file if im not mistaken, so you definitely can't copy HD movies (as in the whole movie, not HD clips) into it, as they are at least 7gbs a movie. You can however cut it into parts with some softwares. Personally i think its just too much hassle.

FAT32 can only support up to 32G. I tried formatted 80G NTFS to FAT32. IT doesnt work. End up i need to make 3 partition in FAT32.

It’s not possible.

I had test Falcon & it also failed to read. It means my external casing does not compatible with Xbox 360. So I had to find new & compatible one. That’s one hell of job.

It doesn’t work on Window 2000 & above. Try format using Window 98 like me. Bill Gates told us FAT32 can support up to 2TB.

I had used up all 500GB. That’s why I moved to 1TB now. With some will, you can finish it. biggrin.gif

rapidshare + megaupload + decent broadband connection + 720/1080p rips = 1TB full in no time.

1) Try other USB port.
2) Try other thumbdrive.
3) Try format using FAT32 not FAT.

So it still can read from USB but have broken pixel on some video?

I think that because your video is below DVD standard resolution (720 × 480). If you watching using HDTV, the broken pixel on standard resolution can still appear. It is getting worst if your video below standard definition.
You can try switch to it native resolution to know it real resolution & size using video menu.
