Dear LYN Friends,

I'm compiling a list of unfortunate people/organizations in desperate need for charity (Funds, Food, Medical Supplies, Volunteers, Equipments) in Penang.
If anyone is familiar with anyone that require such help whether it be personal or involving an organization, just provide me the following details and I'll contact you to verify the situation:

- Name / Name of Organization
- What kind of help is required.
- Urgency ( How urgent the situation is )
- Valid Contacts ( If you require to be anonymous, you're welcomed to PM me )

As I know, there are some Homes there need help. Most of the homes are based on the public funds to survive but the most important thing for them, is a visit. To be able to pay them a visit will be very good. I will arrange my file and send all to you smile.gif

Thanks skysherly, your help is most appreciated.

Of course visiting is a must. I'll send in a team of volunteers to understand the situation, and probably be visiting some homes myself too. I need a list of these unfortunate people, childrens that need education fees.

Also any orphanage, hospice, medical centre that needs help are all welcome. Once again, thanks Sherly. Would it be possible for me to have a short list of them by 14th June? I'll be proposing a fund raising event for a few organization and it is best to include some Homes along..

Same here, hope to expand the foundation too. If you need any assistance, you are most welcome to drop me a message. If everything permits, may be we can work out together for all the homes who need help urgently.

Thank you!

Added on July 20, 2009, 1:18 pmHello people,
I am organising a Charity Drive this coming August.

Venue of this event?
This drive will be set up at public areas, preferably heavy flow of traffic. Currently what i had in mind is Gurney Plaza Penang or New World Park Penang.

What are we doing in this Event?
There will be a small fund raising going on, but the main purpose of this event is we want to get public involve in our event. So most of the events will be engaging the public to do something, showing the others that people do care to contribute somethign to the society.

It's our first time hosting an event, and we have no experience in such. Knowing there are alot of many of you are experience in hosting events, hope you guys can contribute some ideas on what sort of events I can do, to Engage the crowd. I want the crowd to get involve in the charity event, not hosting speech and selling anything to the crowd.

What i had in mind is, get volunteers, and host a Head Shaving event, where we will ask the public to bid, until we have reach a satisfying ammount, say uhmmm a small ammount will do, perhaps 300 to 500 per head shave, the volunteer will have to shave off his head infront of the public.

Others like uhmm Ice Cream Competition would sound great.. Is there any other ways i could engage the public?

Hi there, I am wondering if you know any of the places you listed in Penang that requires donation of clothings, furniture and toys? I have a lot to give away as my mum is a hoarder. Most of the things are brand new and just need dusting and wiping. I can't say the same for the furnitures. They are pretty old. But we are running out of space and I am intending to recycle and reuse to help others as well as the environment smile.gif It might be a good stock for a fund-raising perhaps?

There a HEAPS of clothes - adult (men & women) as well as for teenagers (girl & boy).
Toys for all ages, girls and boys - Lego, jigsaw puzzles, barbies, toy cars.
Books - University books for Business & Management, books for <5 year olds (Sesame Street & Peter and Jane collection), magazines, health books, fiction.
Decor - Vases, frames, hang-ups, all sorts.
Stationery - Colour pencils, pencils, pens, tape, staples.
Bags - Handbags, travel bags.
Furniture - One sturdy black desk, two wooden bed frames, mirrors, coffee tables, a lounge set, three-level cabinets with doors, etc.
Misc - Tupperware containers, cups, etc.

I am still going though the stuff at the house, so who knows what else. I am thinking that not all the stuff are 100% brand new (or in fashion either) but they are still usable and would benefit the poor families that can't afford the luxury of simple household items or aesthetics.

Hm...approx. 107.5cm in depth, 75cm in height and 167.5cm in width. The stands/legs and drawers are made of varnished wood (syelek). The top is made of laminated wood in black with a glass inset (about 0.5 cm deep for calenders, display etc).

To the bottom left of the desk is a set of three equal drawers (good for storing stationery and books). The right drawer is actually a whole spacious cabinet (good for stacking files).

Am I doing okay with the descriptions?

Frankly if you wanna see it for yourself, just pop by. There's always someone home all the time (aka me). I don't think a picture will do it justice because its in a corner, stacked with junk (an idea of how sturdy it is perhaps?). And if you do drop by, you can have a look around and see what else you want...though I don't think you'll be getting your trip's worth if you come too soon (I have SO much more to dig out!) rclxub.gif
