TMnet told me that my house area cannot support 2mbps/4mbps due to the cable.

Is there any way to convince them to change the cable?

I had all my house's cable replaced and rewired. Monitoring the speed now. Charged RM150 for entire house rewiring.

changing 'that' particular cable for 4mb speed = change the whole neighborhood area's cable
solution is : pay them atleast Rm1mil or be a datuk / YB and order them~ thumbup.gif

You can check for availability here:

Upgrade works are still in progress to get more areas covered.

When we first had Streamyx about 2 years ago, the speed was terrible and it disconnected almost continually. So I called TM and they sent around the engineers. Initially they had no clue what was wrong and hoped I would accept that nothing could be done! Eventually, however, when I pushed them they did further tests in the telephone centre of our apartment complex, and decided that the wiring was no good and that our connection would not improve until the wiring was upgraded. We told the complex maintenance manager about this, and he doubted they were right. He subsequently spoke to the engineers in person and on the phone several times, and they eventually admitted to him that the problem was most probably at their end, not ours. Any way, surprise surpirse, after a few weeks the service dramatrically improved without any rewiring being done, and has been a lot better ever since. Of course there are still periods when there are a lot of disconnections and when the speed is very slow, but in general by Malaysian standards it is tollerable.

So this rewiring thing is just one of their typical responses to try to deflect customers from the real source of the problem which I am pretty certain is almost always at TM. However, it is pretty scandalous that some customers get taken in by it and actually waste their money on the rewiring work.

Have to admit that my house (15 years) needs a rewiring as the cable do look pretty old and have been cut here and there before for some extension etc. Just to eliminate this, and since the technician says changing the cable might help, decided to take the call to have the cables in my house renew...

Still waiting for the nut to response back and revert....

could be.... i've been experiencing 512kbps for the past few months when i'm actually paying RM 88 monthly for 1mbps. then i called them up this morning, they told me my plan is actually 512 for RM 88 (the old one). i was like wtf.... i'd been using 1mbps for the past 5 years then suddenly u tell me my plan is the old 512 plan but still have to pay RM 88 monthly. then how come previous years when i called the hotline reporting similar slow connection problem, the staff also acknowledged my plan was 1mbps & i was able to get back my 1mbps speed. and now u tell me your system database shows that my subscription is 512 for the same price....... my goodness......

then they said i can go tmpoint upgrade to 1mbps without extra charge. y can't they just auto restore it back to 1mbps since i'm already paying RM 88 monthly, need to waste my time go there somemore & obviously is their own error. bleh.....

I encountered exactly the same problem as you. I also asked customer services about restoring from there side and was informed they have thousands of users and a that a lot of users were encountering the same problem and they couldn't be expected to resolve this issue for all those users.

No choice but to go to tmpoint to "upgrade" to 1mbps package.

Sorry my bad, I worded my statement wrongly. It should have read:
