Hey guys,I am new here.Just gotten delivery of my new 2nd car Perodua Viva Basic 660EX with the EJ-VE engine.

Is this engine really that underpowered. It feels like its very reluctant to rev and accelerate even when depressing the pedal more than half.

Its like everytime I shift into first gear and starts revving and then let off clutch, the engine will bog down at 1k RPM and climb very slow then when it reach 2.2k RPM only can feel the power surge. Is there something wrong with my Viva or its common for a new engine that hasnt been properly run-in????

Worse is when I stop halfway at hill slope. When light turn green,I shift to first gear and rev, then suddenly engine bog down again and RPM drop to almost 650 RPM and dont climb up even with I depress accelerator pedal alot!!!!!.Engine feel like wanna die off.

Please advice cause if its not normal, then I will send it back to service center.Plus a few times after a long journey, the gear will be very hard to shift to reverse and a few time got crunch gear sound

Huhu, first service for my sister's viva

RM147 total for oil change, oil filter and add-on aircond air filter for RM33

Btw,anyone here knows the exact colour code for Perodua Viva Ivory White?
Some dumb idiot used a coin and made a small but visible scratch on the side of the Viva's bonnet and I want to touch it up

Been thinking of buying DPI Auto Spray Paint at Ace Hardware but got overwhelmed by the variety of white colour available.

I opened the bonnet and there is a sticker that says Kansai Paint Milky White W09.

Btw,how much is the 20,000 km major service? I was quoted RM380 when I visited the Perodua SC.Heard someone say it cost only bout RM200? They charging RM55 for a new air-filter WTF!!!

Thanks..!! noblesse

exhaust i got kinda a nice trade with one fella..he is using auto and find a bit lag while driving..used only for 2months..
so i paid him RM240 and he took my stock exhaust system..and paid for installation was Rm70..so total was like RM310.. but for new going to cost like RM900..+-...anyways this is the most best investment on my ride.. increase 7bhp.. u can feel the power..btw the exhaust system is frm the header to the tail tip.. worth every single penny.. brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif

rear view pix tak de snap lagi lah..sorry.. sweat.gif  sweat.gif  later i take pix..

later u guys do TT i come lah..haha..
*
wow increase 7 bhp is quite good figure for a viva.My family's newly bought viva 660 manual does feel underpowered. An increase of 7 bhp from the base 47 bhp is very good.

Although its 10 hp more than the original kancil but the lag during take off acceleration from standstill is really noticeable, and things gets worse when you are ferrying 4 ppl on the car.

brother, for the soundprove u know how much r? install at SC ???
*
nono SC dont do soundproofing for you.Shop do it all four door bout RM270+ with installation fee.I did mine at Yong Tuck Accessories for that price. Can feel the interior become more quiet because initially when the shop take off the door panel, the door is just wrapped with plastic and not a single padding or soundproofing material.

Lol,the viva meter panel is light up and I believe there is no way you can forget to switch off the lights.

The buzzer can be installed in any accessories shop.I think bout RM50 can get the job done

my car battery has been replaced on today afternoon. P2 SC charged me rm195 for a new battery.

Last week the Alternator spoilt, this week the Battery spoilt. They told me that my battery spoilt is because of after i changed the Alternator, then seldom start the car and run.

It is ridiculous as every day i also driving the car and go to working, i driving my car oftenly even on weekend as well.. they keep explained that its not their fault.  shakehead.gif

never mind, after this time car service (3rd time), i think in the future i won't service my car at P2 SC anymore.

I paid the money, and they never did a great job for me, they caused me to visit them twice within a week, wasting time and money..  doh.gif  doh.gif
*
Why dont you go out to change your car battery? Its slightly cheaper and they may be able to recharge your car battery if its not completely dead.

Anyone here know how to increase low end torque. It seems that there is a slight lag when moving from standstill, and I can feel the power surge only when the needle crosses 2800 RPM.

660BX here

Is Viva 660BX worth to buy compare with 660EX?
Both of it diff 3k+ the price. rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
I found the diff of them are central lock, alarm, cd player and speaker, material colour bumper..
any others different?
I just want a second car with fuel economic one.
*
I suggest you to go for the 660BX.Rm3000 difference is alot of money.Car player and speaker + central locking doesnt cost alot.Plus it still has the rear wiper.

I can intro you some car headunit with USB at a cheap price.Pm me if you want more info

Here is what I spent for the car

Car HU USB - RM139
Central Locking - FOC(car agent paid for it) - Kit actually cost RM125
Speaker front two set - RM50

I just realise that there are some problem with the viva front absorber. When going over normal speed bump,I had to slow down to below 10 km/h or I will get a big jolt and a thump sound.

Does that mean the absorber is dying? Car is just 8 months old.Can claim absorber right since its still less than 1 year?

Hey guys, any recommendation of the spring to change to improve damping for viva when going over speed bumps.Car feel bouncy when going over bumps at speed more than 30 km/h

Will it void the warranty if I change to stiffer springs?

yeap. proride is better. but for the price, i would take GAB anytime smile.gif
proride if not mistaken around 220++ without installation in the market. installation in my ares is around rm60.. so sum up also close to Rm300 already..
GAB is around rm350 include installation. if springs alone is below rm300.. got quote from a good place in kajang smile.gif

will probably install GAB when i have the budget for it. will post a pic here soon  biggrin.gif

i think changing absorber can help. a cheaper alternative to springs..
for the rear, u can use MYVI absorbers (like APM or GAB).
have people using it and kinda good feedback because myvi abs is stiffer than viva.

warranty will be voided for suspension if u change either abs or springs..

there is a type of springs customize for comfort.. brand is Uncle Comfort i think..
but dunno got for Viva or not. i know got for kenari

Added on September 19, 2010, 1:11 pmoh ya. just found out from google. they have it for viva lol.
here is the link http://myvix.4umer.com/sales-trading-f10/w...ua-cars-t72.htm

Cool, thanks. But I am abit worried bout the voiding the warranty part since the car is still less than a year old.EWP for 3 years so dont want to do anything that will spoil the warranty

Hey guys, any recommendation on 12inch sports rim for viva. I had enough of changing those rim hubs for the steel rim cause they always keep falling off. Already burn RM40 changing them.

Anything 5-spoke should be okay smile.gif

Hey,anyone of you know what kind of tool can remove the funny looking star-shaped screw securing the Viva back bumper.

You have to open the bonnet door to see it on the side. Each side of the bumper have 2 screws.

Thinking of removing my bumper and spraying it white
