If a person is gaining some muscle, it's totally OK, in fact, highly encouraged.
What is not needed is the body fat. As long as body fat is going down (and non-fat mass is stable/increasing), it's very good progress.
*
Hi yuanwu, mind to guide me how to find out the % of body fat? smile.gif

In case it's not noted, the scales weighing body fat can be misleading as the readings can be influenced by the amount of water in your body.
*
That's the problem I have, I'm not too sure it's water or fat at all hence how to measure? sad.gif

Aww, thank you so much!!!

Anyway, is 2 soft boiled eggs, a bowl of cereal, a glass of milk and an apple good for breakfast? Or shall I replace cereal with oats?

Yeap, oat would be a better choice smile.gif (rolled oat)

I was having oats most of the time as breakfast and lately find it quite boring hence was thinking to change to cereal

Anyway, if lunch I have hard boiled egg, oats, milk, and apple, is that fine? I ain't a big eater hence that amount is actually filling for me

QUOTE(jamis @ Jul 9 2010, 06:02 PM)
This is my breakfast (my preworkout too)

Oat 30 - 45g  (plain)
9egg white + 1 whole egg
1 banana Or an orange
1-2 dates  (taking advantage of the simple carbs and b12 for my workout)

Other than oat, i usually prepare pasta or brown rice the night before... so in the morning i can heat up the pasta or cook some chicken if i m having brown rice.

If ur goal is to lose weight and those are the correct of carbs, protein and fat that u need then it should be fine. When i was losing fat, any meal other than breakfast and postworkout, i consume oranges for my carbs (careful with the pick of fruit, some fruits give pretty crazy GI level like watermelon and it used to be my favourite lol. Apple is a very decent pick)
*
That's a lot! 9 egg white + 1 whole egg for only breakfast? sweat.gif
Anyway, you will prepare the carbonara sauce for pasta or what sauce that you'll be using? Isn't those are fattening? The double cream for carbonara is 48% butterfat!

I m using bolognese  - full with tomatoes and tomatoes paste and onion hehe.
*
I guess I'll turn back to bolognese time again now tongue.gif
I'm quite fussy in cooking, hence always put a lot of nice ingredients for my cooking but nowadays need to watch out for that already, got to be much more careful than last time

Anyway, it's weekend, at the end I had all the cheat meals sweat.gif

The difference between tomato paste and peeled tomatoes is that:
~Tomatoes patse gives a more pungen, zestier and stronger tomatoes essence to the bolognese..
~Peeled tomatoes (canned) gives a milder contrast and juicier while stay close to the classic Italian recipe..

Both are fine depends on what you like, but remember the herbs bro: Basil + tomato are superb combo  thumbup.gif  or dried oregano herbs are good enough as well.  biggrin.gif

If you want something else than bolognese and 'creamy' as well, try this sauce:

Plain Yogurt + Extra virgin Olive oil + Garlic (optional if you don't like it, but garlic is key in this sauce, cooked in olive oil first before putting in other ingredients) + chicken stock (for seasoning, the powder ones, not the cube ones) + herbs (a little dried oregano) and slices of small pieces of chicken breast.

Very simple, cooking time ETA 5 minutes.  tongue.gif

I tried before plain yogurt and I don't quite like the taste, somehow I used to venture recipes by myself and I know mostly aren't that healthy because of the add on stuff like fried bacon and so on. Anyway, I normally cook the garlic or onion with butter, and extra virgin olive oil only for the spaghetti during boiling and after boiling. It will be much nicer as what I think sweat.gif Got some butter smell and taste nice ma tongue.gif

I don't use chicken stock selling outside, instead normally I'll make my own chicken stock tongue.gif

QUOTE(jamis @ Jul 12 2010, 10:20 AM)
hehe, now i c the diff. i tot the peeled tomato was in fresh form (not canned). Now i get a better picture. I usually use both fresh and paste together, and tats the reason why i need water to cook those stuff til it become soft.

Yeap, i would alway use oregano and basil and sprinkle those parmesan on top of it. umm ummm

The one with the yogurt wont make the sauce taste sourish ?

Myremi, i tried using carrot before, it sweeten the sauce and the sauce gona have some hint of carrot taste hehe.

Hehe guess we all follow the sunday ritual, pack up food on sunday lol. I usually get those freezer zip bag and pack that big bowl of sauce into 5 small packets and wat i need is to boil the spaghetti while i m taking shower and getting ready and heat up the sauce and pour everything into my lunch box and there goes my lovely meal XD.

And hey, u r using bacon tats not fair XD.
Sarah: i usually have 2 cheat meals on a cheat day, but sometime it could be some tempted i attempted 3 lol.

u dont need whey.

Assume u r taking 6 meals a day:

breakfast 3 eggs
mid - half can of tuna
lunch - meat + vege
mid - meat (or another half can of tuna)
dinner - meat
before bed 3 eggs

100g of meat = 30g of protein. so u only need 50g of meat, tats super little.

Oh my dear, I had super heavy cheat meal yesterday, plenty of kuih and the dinner, too much of fried stuff!

Today for my breakfast is as like below, very simple;

2 half boiled eggs
1 glass of milk
1 bowl of wholee grain cereal
1 apple
1 cup of green tea

Then lunch I have something like below as I'm too lazy to make anything due to the tiredness and sleepiness;

1 glass of milk
1 bowl of oats
1 apple
2 slice of butterscotch bread
2 half boiled eggs
1 cup of green tea

I'm lazy until I don't even want to move at all for the moment, hence those are the easiest to prepare sweat.gif

What kind of milk are you drinking? And plain yogurt, still what kind?

Also I'd avoid cereals and energy bars. Your diet still seem to have quite a lot of carbs.
*
Anlene milk tongue.gif
the plain yogurt I'm using the sunglo or something like that, I can't remember

Cereals I'm having from the brand Post, I heard it's good though. As for energy bars I'm actually replaced it with wholegrain cookies

Is there still very high carbs? How can I reduce it even more?

Alert Alert!! Looks like you're constantly having an insulin spike (caused by sugar) throughout your day. Body completely turns off its ability to burn fat once insulin is up - why bother doing all that hard work trying to break up fat cells to get energy when you have insulin that's readily accessible in the body?? This is how the body will speak if it can. Hehe.

Anyways, here's a day-by-day breakdown on your diet:

Breakfast - no cereals please, regardless of what kind it is. Cereals are man-made, it never existed before civilization. Opt for oatmeal instead (I personally don't like it.. Hehe..) I would suggest take out the raisins too as it's high in sugar. My suggestion is to have your eggs, replace your cereals with some kind of meat, a glass of milk/fruitshake w yogurt in it and an apple. smile.gif
Lunch - Looking good, easy on the dressing please. smile.gif
Dinner - Looks good with the exception of yogurt.

SNACKS!!! Sorry that I have to capitalize this but unfortunately it's your snacks that made everything difficult!!  cry.gif

No cookies or energy bars please!! Again, SUGAR is FAT LOSS' WORST ENEMY!! Go for some kind of nuts, a fruit shake, a few pieces of fruits or a protein shake.

Try taking out those sugar/insulin spikes out of your day and you'll see what I'm talking about. Don't waste your efforts in the gym with your snack times!! sad.gif Good luck with everything!!  thumbup.gif

Thanks dear, but my raisins aren't those that come with sweet one wor, no added extra sugar at all but anyhow I'll just take your advice to take it off then. If so then I'll try to replace my cereals with oatmeal again.

Those homemade no added sugar cookies also can not ar? If can not then I'll take it off again, and replace with fruit. I actually don't mind to go for tasteless and I ain't a big fan of sugar because can't really take in sweet stuff though sweat.gif

Thanks for all the encouragement and replies and so on notworthy.gif

I've got the answer by myself as I lost inches at my waist even though I gained a kg. Somehow I don't mind for that so much though after knowing that I'm also losing off some fat stored in my body.

Anyway, I've completely cut down the cookies as mentioned. I had a productive day and I'll still continue work out for my diet smile.gif

I'm back! With my sucky internet connection so I went off missing a few days tongue.gif

Anyway, I'm quite enjoy my new diet plan and I think I am doing quite good for my health as well weight lost progress. I'm not hitting the gym yet but kinda good that at least I lost a few inches and kgs smile.gif

By the way, if someone wants to gain muscle, can I (losing weight) and the gain muscle's diet around the same? Meaning that I cook for two persons which is easier right?

I think it is just your calories intake that make different.. Both still need lots of protein rite? So each person can take the same food, but in different portion based on their objective.. Calories surpluss and deficit.. Thats the different..

Thanks revolter, well I'm working out hard to plan out a nice diet blush.gif

Summore u hantam 2 pieces of FRIED chicken breast, die wey...  shocking.gif

Oil for now I take only extra virgin or fish oil, other than that no. As for my meat, mostly I steam or boil, sometimes will grill it but that will be like once everyweek or every two weeks smile.gif

this is referring to my overall diet or just the weekend?
the fried chicken from pasar malam is a phase i'm going through this 2-3 weeks. tongue.gif
i tried though to minimize the damage by not eating the batter&skin, just the meat.

so for weekend no pasar malam food and?
what about the weekdays diet and exercise? any comment? suggestions to improve?  smile.gif
*
To me I think is overall diet sweat.gif
The weekend one is really high carbs, and even you tried not to eat the batter & skin, it's still the same thing as the oil the people use is really unhealthy

QUOTE(sneakerfanatics @ Jul 22 2010, 09:58 PM)
Try cycling your diet guys - eat really healthy, no carbs, no sugar, only fruits, nuts, veggies and meat on the weekdays while eat whatever you want over the weekends. This may sound insane but trust me it works.

This is because if you're trying to lose weight, you don't want your body to get used to a strict healthy diet only, those "cheat" weekends puts your body through an over-eating stage where it raises your metabolism making fat loss easier for your body.

You can cycle it in any way you want. minimum 5 days healthy, 2 days cheat or 7 days healthy 2 days cheat or 30days healthy, 5 days cheat or something like that. Remember to have your healthy days in a row before cheating. no alternating if you really want this to work. smile.gif
*
My case is once a while during weekdays I'll be eating cheat meals, perhaps out of entire week will be like 2-3 meals will be cheating one then for weekend since Sunday I'll be doing groceries most of the time hence will be a bit healthier tongue.gif
