ubuntulinux , there's two iso to download, one is a livecd , another is a installation cd. the livecd can be booted and u r inside ubuntulinux, no need installation auto detect all hardware. the installation cd take around 30 minutes to get installed, ready with gnome gui, open office and firefox ; just like a normal pc with net surfing and document typing....

When I first boot into the system using LiveCD..
I plan to get online.. So I proceed to change the config for eth0.. But, it seems like we need root password to do that.. And they didn't provide root password! Finally I found the solutions on ubuntu forum.. sudo... |

The root account is disabled when you first install Ubuntu. The first user created during the installation has administrative rights on the system, and can run programs as root with sudo, using only their normal user password. For example: sudo apt-get update.
If you wish to use the root account in more traditional UNIX fashion, you can set the root password by typing sudo passwd root. This will allow you to use su or login as root on the console. If you need a shell with root privileges, run sudo -s. All uses of sudo will require the user's password. |
