Hi delvin. Visually, the rear space seems a tad small compared to C-segment altis and civic ., (I think it‘s just due to the shorter legroom).
Anyhow, just wondering ... is the rear shoulder room (width) comparable to altis/civic as mazda3‘s width is also 1755mm? As long as it‘s back seat is wider than in my 2003 vios, the legroom will be no issue to my small kids. thnks for any info ,anyone... |

QUOTE(gahpadu @ Sep 23 2009, 11:37 PM) compare with my last ride (city vtec) , mazda 3 sport hands down when it come to sprint test .The best things on mazda 3 is it very good in road handling even on 65 series tyres hi gahpadu ., Are u saying that your mazda3 1.6 accelerates faster than your previous city vtec? Mind u ., mazda 1.6 weighs 1220 kg with 103 hp vs previous city 1140kg 110hp. Same torque. I read in a UK review that m3 1.6 manual takes 11.2 sec from 0-100 km/h.Anyway, numbers don‘t always depict the reality ., so maybe u can share your comparing xperience. If the m3 1.6 auto sprints as fast as city and vios, it‘s good enough. I‘m not a speed junkee. I enjoy a casual but fun drive / great handling. Can save 20k from the m3 2.0 |

QUOTE(gahpadu @ Sep 27 2009, 01:35 AM) What I mean is Mazda 1.6 lost to Honda City in term of pick up .But For high speed cruising, I more confident on Mazda compare to City. Thnx for your info, loneboy. Sorry for misunderstood gahpadu. U must really like m3 ( even 1.6 )to choose it over more powerful civic 1.8 or peugeot 308 1.6 THP. I guess have 2 save more for d/payment m3 2.0. Hopefully 2010 National automotive policy end Oct will bring price down. |

Delvin ., will the m3 be made soon in ford/mazda plant in thailand (like the soon arriving mazda2 sedan)?Or in the philipines.?
Better get my japan CBU m3 this year before the made-in-thai starts production. If Thai CBU, will it be cheaper coz Bhat currency and only cross land import? mazda3 for me. Hi gahpadu ., can u check thekerb weight in your 1.6 spec sheet. In sgmart.com, it‘s 1229 kg but with 16 inch wheels, traction control. My family‘s Suzuki SX4 sport weighing 1220kg 103hp 145 torque (same as m3 1.6) accelerates 0-100km/h in 12.2 sec.
If it‘s just 1200kg and with CD 0.29, it may just do 0-100 km/H in 12.0sec. Wife not agreeing m3 2.0 coz can get camry/accord for 130K. Added on October 5, 2009, 12:51 pmDelvin., maybe u can update me on malaysian m3 1.6 kerb weight. Can‘t rely on europe/US website dt different spec. I appreciate your info gahpadu and delvin. Are the 15 inch wheels alloy, does the 1.6 have leather steering and cruise control? I already know there won‘t 5 speed paddle shift n few other mirror/wiper/airbag features.
Check out this 7 page ‘professional‘ driving comparison between civic, mazda3, impreza n corolla altis. Lancer n elantra ousted the year before. www.motortrend.com/roadtest/sedans/112_0805_civic_mazda3_impreza_corolla_comparison/index.html |

No leather steering for 1.6? hu.,hu
Do our m3 have variable-assist steering , whereby u need to turn less if moving slower .,like when parking? It is mention in this site, which equals m3 driving near to that of BMW 1series. http://mobile.boston.com/siteserver/site?t...mo4g&sid=boston Added on October 6, 2009, 9:36 amMaybe just get 1.6 . Gahpadu ... have u done anything to your 1.6 to make it faster without voiding your warranty? Your steering leather?
Ayo ., checked the price of 1st gen mazda3. The hatch nearly 4k pricier than the sedan. |

Nice. Keep us update on your modes. The 1.6 is just about what i can afford if i trade in my 2003 vios. Unless the new NAP brings down the 2.0 to below 120K.
(i doubt it though).. |

QUOTE(ricolim @ Feb 15 2010, 11:18 AM) Hi gahpadu, I think the forte 1.6 SX felt more sluggish due to it's 17 inch wheels. Test drive the forte 1.6 EX and compare with m3 1.6 as both has 15 inch rims.Thank you for your info. I went to test drive the M3 Sport 1.6 last weekend. The build quality of M3 Sport 1.6 is good. For the performance, the pick up of M3 Sport 1.6 is ok, not that quick and powerful. But I can say it is not that underpower feel. At that time, the car carried 4 persons (including me). The handling of M3 Sport 1.6 is pretty awesome. Feel like driving a continental car. For comparison between M3 Sport 1.6 & KIA FORTE 1.6SX, I think pick-up of M3 Sport 1.6 is better than KIA Forte 1.6SX. For my experience during the tested drive of KIA Forte 1.6SX, I really needed to press hard the gas pedal to move the car during pick up. I felt performance of KIA FORTE 1.6SX is sluggish, although the Horse Power & torque of KIA Forte 1.6SX engine is much more higher than M3 Sport 1.6. (Probably KIA Forte 2.0SX will do the better job but it is still not come out to Malaysia market). The handling ride of KIA FORTE 1.6SX is stiff. But M3 Sport 1.6 lacks of many accessories compare to M3 Sport 2.0 even KIA Forte 1.6SX. The pricing of M3 Sport 1.6 is kinda overprice. I have booked the forte 2.0sx since 6 Disember 2009 from a local dealer with the car none in sight. But the kia dealer also sells mazda3 .. so my booking and downpayment is transferable. With all the commotion surrounding forte and possible price hike for forte 2.0 ... my love for mazda3 has been somewhat rekindled. Mazda3's flows of Nagare Furai vs Forte's Shreyer lines. Emmmm ... |

QUOTE(furiezachs @ Feb 19 2010, 12:42 AM) My car is only the 1.6 variant. Just imagine how good 2.0 acceleration and power will be, in regards to the condition of the testing I've done. You could double-up the confidence level when overtaking and challenging other cars on the highways. Even with 17'' rims (I've been advised to upgrade only 1'' = to 16'' rims, but what the heck) I didn't feel any sluggishness / heaviness, but the tire's a little bit noisy. Perhaps I should depressurize the tires, maybe to 30 kpi instead of 35/33. On paper, the mazda3 1.6 has the same 103 hp and 144 Nm torque as my 2003 toyota vios. If you'd had experience driving vios or city before ... would you rate the mazda3 1.6 more sluggish with its heftier weight and your 17 inch wheels? The deealer in my town won't let me testdrived the showroom unit. i personally luv the mazda3 furai flow-lines and have read 'bout the good reviews of it's handling. If the 1.6 accelerates as fast as my lightweight vios , then probably not necessary to get the 2.0. Still flip-flopping between mazda3 and kia forte. Appreciate your feedback. Thanx. |

Added on February 19, 2010, 4:50 pm Hi redz3, I've driven Vios but only on several occasion. Hence I could not give you the qualified and fair verdict on this. Am very sorry to say this, but I also drove Myvi once or twice, or triple. I feel that it's more engaging than driving Vios. Not that I have anything against Toyota, but this is what I feel and of course there are several conditions that contribute to the accelerating factor. As for Mazda 3 1.6 with 17'' rims, well, at the moment everything went just fine. As I wrote before, I am not a person who hit the pedal to the floor in every traffic lite, but I can feel no sluggishness. However, maybe because it's still new, I dunno what will be in next few months... I suggest you test drive 2.0 RIGHT JUST AFTER you test drive the 1.6. Then you can have a better feel of the difference between both engine. If u really want to know my personal experience with this kind of testing, well, I can tell u I did not feel any obvious difference. That's why I choose 1.6. Nevertheless, if I can test drive both for half a day each, I think I could tell u what's what. Unfortunately, we can't do that Just one day before my 1.6 being delivered to me, I am tempted to change to 2.0, but my SA would not allow me change already. This is because I want all the toys inside 2.0, not because the engine. It saves me RM20K but I know I will missed all the features dearly. [/quote] Thanx for the feedback bro. Mazda3 exclusivity on the road made it my top C-segment choice... apart from it's superb handling and build-quality. My wife brought the light blue suzuki 1.6 SX4 crossover late 2007 and she still feels like driving a new car after 2 years as the model is almost non-existent on the roads. Feels so special ... stand out differently from the crowd. Cheers mate .... will consider m3 soon. |

Hi guys ...
Current am waiting for my wife to arrive. Will be taking her to our local hometown dealer to show her the mazda3 1.6 and 2.0 .. both of which are in stock. Also planning to persuade her to cancel our forte 2.0 booking and transfer the amount to mazda3 booking (the dealer sells both car brands). Mazda3 has only 58 pages of forum thread .... forte LYN forum already in V4. Patiently been waiting irritatedly 3 months for my forte 2.0 without any inkling of news except for a possible price hike. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise ... now that my eyes are set again on mazda3. Wish me luck in persuading my wife .... |

QUOTE(gahpadu @ Feb 22 2010, 08:58 PM) i think it not due to rpm ratio coz it more obvious when I'm cruising on rpm 2.8 and above. Emmm ... this pedal vibration issue (which seems to also arise in SG) is kinda swaying my choice towards the 2.0. Maybe I have to drive my car below 2.8 rpm (100km/h maybe) and only can feel the quite drive. I checked on mazda sg club, there also have same problem for 1.6 . one more thing...1.6 version come with 4AT only |
