Australia, February 23, 2010 - As part of Nintendo Australia's major announcements today, IGN can confirm that two of Nintendo's most anticipated titles are on their way to Wiis much sooner than originally anticipated.

Both Super Mario Galaxy 2, follow-up to 2007's smash platformer, as well as Metroid: Other M (Team Ninja's take on the seminal sci-fi adventure/platformer) are both due for release between June and August this year.

Nintendo Australia's Greg Arthurton reiterated that both titles were most definitely not holiday season releases. This leaves an interesting vacancy for 'other' major releases over this period, we'd speculate.

This news comes ahead of tomorrow's Nintendo press event being held in the US. IGN US will be in attendance to confirm these details.

does anybody know if the multplayer is more involved then the previous? coz the smg 1 the 2nd player only can collect stars which is not really active participation. ihope smg 2 improves this

Yeah, thankful for improving Wii scene. But I need to be more vigilant and faster, and you guys need to help me also to update me with new games so i can get them for you guys.

IGN and GameSpot give SMG2 10/10...

honestly was a little surprised with GameSpot's review score ... but i think that really proves this is the new standard all other platforming games will be judged against in the future !

I've started the game already. Starting feel so much like the 1st game. Nothing much new.. Hope later in the game got more fun.

nothing much new meaning? if u referring to d controls then that's given. all game iterations have something in common, otherwise must as well call it a different name. but do elaborate on "nothing much new"? i haven't played yet, but really i can't wait. i can only play this friday.

look at mw and mw2, what is different?
1. the story
2. the maps
3. the perks

that's all! everything else is d same. yeT mw2 sells millions! if u really look at the "fun" factor, do u see mw2 more fun then mw? not even a bit. but people still buy ms2, coz we are suckers when comes to things that r familiar to us. as much as we like things to be different, we associate with what we are familiar with. game developers understand that. and i do too.

To be frank, i remember no one ever cared about Mario's story (except for our kids and the younger children). People played it because its Mario all over (and welcome back Luigi!). And the real meat of the game is the challenge of collecting all those stars and clever boss battles. (Which echoes similarly to NSMB Wii).

So, with that in mind, is there a problem?

I noticed this is the fastest and shortest duration of time a 2nd Mario game is released. (NSMB Wii was still 7 months ago)

Infinite jump! At least, according to Kotaku. Looks like a game killer if it's easy enough to do... I can't even snake on Mario Kart.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Best game of year 2010

Is it out here yet?

This game is a massive improvement on the first one, the level design is sooooo good. Even the old power-ups from Galaxy 1 are given new contexts to make them feel fresh.

too bad now still can't accumulate lives.. always reset to 4 lives when save and come back wonder why didn't fix from first game

I've played n collected like 8 stars. Ya controls almost the same.

Story
- Is simple, every1 can predict what is happening through out the whole game. Mario still yahoo here n yippii there even the princess has been raped by bowser gazillion times. Maybe that's what Mario game is ?

Gameplay
- Controls are almost the same.
- Got new things actually, new power creates new environment for new strategy to play the game. Not hard but just need more time to master a map.
- Addictive. Even though same sh*t like before but still addictive. Keep me want to play next game. To prove myself that I can do it for the platforming levels. Satisfaction of collecting Stars..

Graphic
- I guess that's the most colorful graphic that Wii can deliver so far.

Replay Value :-
- Basically I think the 2nd player's idea is quite dumb n boring. This game meant for single player. N I guess I wont play it again after accomplish all the stars mission just like 1st mario. I remember I bought Wii last time also for SMG only. Now I get to play SMG2 again, nth to complain. I seriously think nintendo can only make mario games to attract me since iI've grown up with mario with my atari n gameboy.. XD

like nsmb. y not? d previous versions of nsmb were single player. so y can't smg2 get d same upgrade?

well, in 2D, you can see the whole screen. In 3D, I think i wouldn't want to see luigi being dragged because the other guy is walking to the other side.

If theyreally want to make a good 2 players game on SMG series, I believe nth can stop nintendo for making it.
