Your monitor support 640 x 480? I think that's the default res output by 360 plugging in VGA cable for the first time

That's the monitor's native.. may be you can set your desktop to run on on 640 x 480 and see whether it can run on that res first. And what do you mean by plug for the VGA cable? shocking.gif

Doesn't fit? There's only one kind D-Sub 15 pin in this world, and it's universal.. unless the gender doesn't match. Must be from opposite "sex" for connection, otherwise you'd need a gender changer

You got a third party VGA cable right? You can try finding the gender changer from computer stores, they are pretty common.

I don't quite get what you mean.. Did you mean plugging HDMI and VGA cable on your 360 at the same time? Or using VGA cable and convert to HDMI?

That's possible.. If you are using 3rd party VGA cable then it shouldn't have problem at all using both at once (my previous setting). But you'd need to mod the official/replica by cutting some part of the plastic case to fit in both. Alternatively you could get the official HDMI cable that comes with a audio plug or just get the audio plug from goldenshop.com

dvi is the same as HDMI.so u wont get any degradation in term of resolution or graphic quality. the different is just hdmi can deliver video and audio while dvi is only video. even though u are using hdmi to dvi converter, it only converts the connector, signal itself remains the same and no signal conversion if u're using hdmi-dvi.

Question 1: does the quality differ if you use the VGA cable at the same resolution as the HDMI?

Question 2: any guides as to opening the said vga cable? seems diff from the ori cable tat comes with the xbox.

Some might argue otherwise but I can clearly see the difference of hooking VGA and HDMI/DVI. HDMI gives sharper image than my official VGA cable.

yeah it should be. VGA still transmit using analog signal so there might be inteference from the surroundings.
