QUOTE(lapaq @ Jun 9 2009, 10:46 AM)
Yup...typical gamers reply... rclxub.gif
Blaming tax is pretty stupid for a company as big as Astro. They never blame the govt when they priced their LCD TV or MP3 Player or even their earphone much higher compared to their competitors. Why blame the govt for teh high price in games?

Then why are their BD games are priced somewhat correctly...Looked at their price for BD games, most of teh latest games are prices at comparable prices. Newer games are riced at RM229 (WE2009 and etc) and other games are priced at RM219(MGS4, LBP, etc) Other games at RM199 to RM169 (SC4 and etc) and those under Greatest  hits cn go as low as RM129 (Ratchet, Splinter Cell, Ass Creed, NGS and etc)

I personally think sony screwed up on their digital distribution market pricing and positioning. The must have thought that The gamers who buys PS3 and buys download games are the cream of teh crop. These buhch of customers are elites and willing to pay premuim prices to have teh latest gadgets and games. i.e. not normal gamers that still use Discs based games.

There is no f***ing way the govt charge that much for games, why are teh computer games so damn cheap? they are games too just like PS3 games. Don't tell me that computer games are tax free and such and just blame the govt again.

Again Sony is just too damn wrong in their PSN pricing scheme and the person responsible should be fired for not knowing the statistics and real situation in teh market.

Nuff rants from me...I won't even bother to create an MY account
Don;t need to read the sales and whatever tax coz the pricing of BD games are not THAT high so why DLC have to be HIGH? it's not about taxes but it's about wrong pricing and marketing decision.

Second point that you make

This is teh problem with Sony, why launch something when the infrastructure is not in the works yet. You'll lose the goodwill and trust of all your customer if you start on teh wrong side of the fence. It's going to be very hard to jump over teh fence once all teh infra is place and cust's trust has already gone down the drain and they have all got other alternatives to the same thing (SG and US PSN). Like me, once I have my option of getting better prices for teh same thing, why go to Sony MY?

If sony wants to succeed, they have to invest in the infra, retailer support and etc. then only they can launch it successfully. No point launching something that the customer will never support coz in the end you'll just say...OH THE MALAYSIAN MARKET IS NOT READY FOR DIGITAL CONTENT YET.

oh and Mr Sony, if you are listening, MY Apple Store for my Ipod Touch is good enough foy me. Even though the price is still in USD and the selection is not as good as US Apple Store. We don't get screwed over. Oh and they are selling games too you know...so go learn from them how they did it....successfully I might say.

p/s: damooncake...no offense to you but I' just ranting on this board to SONY..I mostly only lurking on the board and post occasionally but I just got to post on this matter...as I'm so frusterated at Sony utter stupidness in assessing their market and product position. Maybe coz they thought MS Xbox360 is not officially launched here hence they don't have a competitor hence they can have a monopoly...Obviously Sony have not heard about those free browser games and free to play MMO/games that all our youngsters are mad about since the last 2-3 years. Oh I'm going mad thinking about the lost opportunity that Sony is going thru.

save it, sony wont read this, and they are not gamers laugh.gif

First of all, I'm very happy that the PlayStation@Store in Malaysia is up.

I would like to make a complaint about the pricing of the games that are currently selling at the PlayStation@Store and also the games that are currently under the PS one/Classic category.

The price of the games that are currently available in PlayStation@Store are more expensive that what we can found in US PlayStation@Store, i strongly believe that this is a great dissapointment to all the PlayStation 3 users, it just doesn't make sense that the pricing of the games in Malaysia PlayStation@Store are more expensive than the pricing of the games in US PlayStation@Store, for example, GT5 Prologue that are available at Malaysia PlayStation@Store is currently at the price of approximately RM189, but if I buy this game from some of the Play Station store outside, I only need to pay about RM150 for the game. At first, we are really expecting that the games pricing in Malaysia PlayStation@Store will be more reasonable compare to the outlet store, this is a great dissapointment for our gamers. I really hope that Sony Malaysia will revise the price that are currently in PlayStation@Store.

2nd issues. The games that are currently fall under the PSone/Classic category are all in Japanese language, as we know, we, Malaysian does not learn Japanese, and majority of the Malaysian does not understand Japanese language, and I believe that most of the people out there would not buy a game in a language that they can't understand. I hope Sony Malaysia can reconsider this issues and will put up more games that are in english language, so we can continue to support Play Station games in the future.

Below is the link to a Malaysia forum, it is a discussion topic regarding the PlayStation@Store Malaysia, take some time and read, consider that is a feedback from our Malaysian gamers.

Thank you for your e-mail and interest in PS products.

Please be informed that each region would have different market situations and it does not mean that Malaysia will have the equivalent price that of other regions. A lot of factors like laws and policies would affect this price setting. Even if you tally prices from other regions like Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan, the prices will all differ, based on that region's market situation. They do not have the exact equivalent amounts even if after conversion.

As for the game languages, please be informed that these depend primarily on game developers as they decide what kind of games are released in which region.

However, we thank you for your feedback and we will forward this to our related department for evaluation and possible future product improvement.
