QUOTE(zioburosky13 @ Aug 18 2009, 06:42 PM) Newsflash: Blizzard says LAN gaming is like dinosaur fossil now If they have local or neighboring country servers like the one setup-up by e-club, starhub etc. there shouldn't be any lag issue. Hey Blizzard, not everyone owns a stable and big fat bandwidth internet connection. No body wants to login to an online app. just to play a LAN game. And not everyone gives a shit about your e-penis I mean in-game achievements. Blizzard is losing itself in the sea of money. Hopefully Blizzard is watching what Valve's steam is doing unlike the current battle.net which has bad match-making mechanics. |

Really?
Since when LAN gaming is another reason for pirating game? Blizzard is just being lazy and hoping to the current bad trend of gaming such as in game achievement. No matter how tight you secure your software, sooner or later someone will break it. The tigher the DRM, the more money you will lose. Remember SPORE? It was loaded with Securom and those who bought genuine copy almost plan to storm EA's office and crucify the people there until EA release the de-activiation tool . Those who bought genuine copy get f*** up while pirated user just slip away. |

Can we move on from this LAN issue? It is obvious why they are removing it and it hardly effects any of us. So zioburosky13 if you are the 1%(or less) that plan to play on a LAN, you have my sympathy. If you think LAN is a big feature that effects your purchasing decision, then you have already made your mind. The argument about it has been discussed to death I suggest looking a few pages back.
And a reminder. I won't accept posts about these illegal IP tunnellers/programs. PS : If you would like to know more about how LAN and piracy correlates, I suggest looking at a stickied post by da3shou3 at the Warcraft section about VPNs. This post has been edited by frags: Aug 18 2009, 11:04 PM |

QUOTE(frags @ Aug 18 2009, 10:58 PM) One of the reason why Starcraft gain such popularity is because of it's addictive LAN game-play before the rise of broadband internet. Wait until Johnny wants to play SC2 LAN with his friends. On no he can't Cause the internet is down. The more people putting everything on the cloud (a.k.a. the internet), the more it becomes more vulnerable and complex in terms of usability and accessibility. I'm not going to argue anything. All I know it's that Blizzard's decision of removing LAN game has pissed off even their most hardcore fans. This post has been edited by zioburosky13: Aug 19 2009, 12:15 AM |

And well, if they are gonna put it in, they arent gonna put it in (no kinky double sense meant... seriously...)
I do agree LAN has kinda decreased for the past few years with the increase of fast internet. While I am not 100% happy they take it out, well, not like we can decide And last: Blizzard don't give a crap about Malaysia's internet, it's Guv and Streamyx fault Malaysia has bad internet, not games company. Personally the more I read about the solo play, the more I can't wait! This post has been edited by Gormaz: Aug 19 2009, 10:35 AM |

LAN will affect cyber cafe income. Most people play LAN games in cyber cafe. If they have bnet they wont be going to cyber cafe wif their friends.
Also i don thtink removing LAN will combat piracy. We still have our malaysian pirate blue server and u dont need ori warcraft 3 to dota |

No body wants to login to an online app. just to play a LAN game. And not everyone gives a shit about your e-penis I mean in-game achievements. Blizzard is losing itself in the sea of money. Even in Australia, internet is shit.12 out of my 70+/- games in DoW2 end up as disconnect. The thing is,LAN is pretty much rarely used these days. It's always either one problem or another. Still, dont forget that SC1 become popular in Korea is because of all these IP tunnellers, from private leagues like ICCup.And a reminder. Blizzard needs to have a IP tunneller in Battlenet 2.0's net code which will stop the b****ing and it's still a win win situation for everyone.Plus, add in an auto-update and able to redownload your entire game over the net(it's available now) to SC2 would be even awesome. |
