You must remember to check the DTS enable output option in your sound driver setup.

i did it.
using vista OS.
but then there is a button beside, which can test the output of DTS signal.
but when i test it, it failed.
then it unchecked itself.
but still, it only come out stereo only.

"Failed" as in no sound? Confirm your decoder support DTS? What about your source material? Tried with another movie with DTS sound track? What about Dolby Digital? Can work?

btw, how much did you pay for this converter and where did you buy it?

personally, i'll feel if all else fails, your only option will be to get an external sound card like Creative Extigy.
*
failed as in no DTS or DOLBY output to receiver.
i using denon 1907 AVR, confirm got DTS support.

source material also confirm got suround, coz when play using dvd player got DTS appear on receiver.

i got a second hand unit from garage sale.
well, i using laptop.
and dont wish to invest further on soundcard.

How about your cable? Maybe it's faulty? Can play songs or not? How about normal tv rip which don't have DTS or DD?
*
cable ok.
if play song or other movie then got sound come out.
i play DTS or DD then the receiver decode it to stereo instead of surround.
so i only get stereo but not surround T.T

I'm not sure how your converter works, but you should pass the AC3/DTS signal to your sound card. Is the converter consider a sound card device?

Go install the K-Lite codecs (with AC3 filter). Select AC3 filter as your default decoder and run AC3, then check the box to "passthrough" the AC3 and DTS signals.

hmmm, i will gv it a try.
i suppose it 'should' pass raw signal n let receiver to decode watever source it is.
but then, it doesnt turn out wat i expected it should be.
