I heard the shopkeeper tell a customer until next fri also they giving out, not sure how true is that la. So if u all want the training pass, Nike 1U is the place to head to

India's Sahara close to Man Utd shirt deal - report

QUOTE
India's Sahara Group is in advanced talks with Manchester United to become the new shirt sponsors of the English Premiership champions, domestic media reported on Thursday.

"The chairman (Subrata Roy) is going to London on June 5 to finalise the deal," an unnamed official of the multi-business conglomerate told the Mumbai-based DNA daily.

"We think that if we can sponsor such a huge club it will give an opportunity for Indian footballers to play as well," the official added.

However, a company spokesman said Sahara had not made much headway on the proposal received from the club in January.

"There is no progress on the issue," spokesman Abhijit Sarkar said when contacted.

The paper said some issues regarding revenue sharing and whether Sahara would have the reach needed to cater to the world club champions' global fanbase were yet to be discussed.

United is seeking a new sponsor after troubled American insurance giant AIG announced in January it would not renew its four-year $100 million deal which runs until 2010. The Sahara Group, also sponsors of the Indian cricket team, are hopeful the deal would go through as Manchester United can expand its fanbase in the region. "Apart from the Asian market, they can expand their fan base in India which is a huge market for them," the official told DNA.

The Sahara is an unlisted group with interests from financial services to real estate.

Manchester United had also sent a shirt sponsorship proposal in March to Indian conglomerate Tata group.

"There are various sponsorship options, one for the team shirt. This has been going on for some time but nothing has been finalised," a brand consultant of the group told Reuters in March.

The Tata Group has interests spanning steel, cars, information technology, communication, power, tea and hotels. Tata Consultancy Services, the software arm of the group, is one of the sponsors of the Ferrari Formula One team.

Anyone can do a photoshop on our shirt with a Sahara logo at our new "power range" style jersey?

*
don't think they so free to call. I bought from Nike 1U on the first day as well and told me will call before collect. Then I went the next week (Thurs) and just tried my luck asking. It seems it's already in envelope and kept for days but they didn't bother to call to ask me to collect

Capello seems to know how to get the best out of him, I hoped SAF will give him the opportunity in the next season.
*
Rooney works best as a supporting striker, even SAF knows that but unfortunately there's no out and out striker that can hold the ball up and feed it to him. I thought Berbatov was meant for that striker role. He has the ability to hold the ball and spread play but I don't understand why he play as supporting striker with Rooney as the main.

For England, there's Emile Heskey who is strong in the air and hold up the ball long while waiting for his teammates like Gerard and Rooney run into space. I'm pretty sure Berbatov is much better than Heskey but so far I haven't see the gaffer try out this position before.

I feel more confident Ronaldo staying compared to last season. I doubt Real Madrid will splashed out more cash now that they just broke the new transfer record fee. Plus Ronaldo gonna miss the whole pre-season, that may not be good for our season preparation but also disrupt Real Madrid ambition. There won't be enough time for Ronaldo to fit in their system before their season starts as well.

I can see Rooney and Berba stepping up the plate next season. Please play Berba and Rooney more, if Rooney can be so explosive partnering the likes of Heskey and Crouch. Imagine the devastating effect if he gelled with Berba. SAF please learn from Capello, just ask him to stay up damn it! This might be the best chance Rooney getting the odd 30 plus goals

I'm wondering what no. Ronaldo will be getting in Real next season. Raul will never release his shirt no., perhaps we'll be seeing another 23. That said, I also wonder what no. Kaka getting as well since he's normally 10. Which player occupies that shirt currently in Real?

QUOTE(KhangFai @ Jun 11 2009, 09:49 PM)
Manchester United accepted Cristiano Ronaldo transfer offer from Real Madrid.

I will say: Goodbye Ronaldo, please prepare United fans boo you if you return Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo, he is same as Gabriel Heinze, he is traitor who betrays Manchester United. He will never gain honour like David Beckham or Ruud van Nistelrooy.

A player who over react while substitute off, a player who criticism manager after lost in Champions League Final, a player who refused to wear United tie after defeated by Barcelona.....We don't need this player.

Go, go Ronaldo.....I will booed in future.

We don't need you. We are MANCHESTER UNITED. The best club in the world.
*
Come on, he left on a good note compared to Heinze, I don't hear him handing in transfer request, though he did voiced out his desire to join them before. He does sulk sometimes, but if you read the interview after CL final, he didn't criticise the gaffer, just voicing out his opinion that the tactic failed against Barca. I think the fans will applaud him when he's back, he did lead us to a number of titles, unless those fans is immature like you do.

I'm surprised no one talk about Adam Ljajic? Perhaps he's the next no.7 given the gaffer interest to polish new gems. That if we don't get the likes of Benzema/Ribery though

QUOTE(Wan @ Jun 12 2009, 05:36 PM)
We'll buy Valencia(the player, not club), and the internet would explode. I know I won't be too happy with that. But looks like SAF is interested according to Wigan's chairman(Dave Whelan)..

Would you guys be happy with that?

He's no better than Nani for me, although right now he's far more consistent.
*
Yeah, I don't see much end product from him apart from his speed. His cross not that accurate, something Nani is good at but he don't like to cross sweat.gif . His scoring ability is also below Nani. Nani just need some footballing brain, making wrong decisions most of the times. He should just stick to a typical winger, running down the wing and chipping in crosses and cut in occasionally if there's space to take a shot.

We might struggle at a start, but I trust in the gaffer ability in pulling another trick out of his hat. As I can see, SAF is building for the future, a future when he decide to call it a day. He knew Ronaldo would definitely leave and will not be part of the future Man Utd squad. I can see Rooney being the focal point of the team. And also you can see the recent trust in youngsters. For now, I'm waiting for the new players anxiously. I think we just need a winger (Ribery?) and a striker (Tevez/Huntelaar?), we should be complete.

Wigan confirm Man United interest in Valencia
QUOTE

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that Manchester United have made a series of bids for Ecuador winger Antonio Valencia and he expects another cash offer to arrive shortly.

United, who accepted a world-record £80m bid from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday, are in the market for a replacement for the Bernabeu-bound World Player of the Year and Valencia is one of the names on their hit-list.

"They (United) have been in touch with us and we will be starting negotiations very shortly, I would imagine," Whelan told Sky Sports News.

"I think they were waiting to see if Ronaldo actually went to Real, which has happened. Things will develop over the next seven to 14 days.

"United have been in touch with us over Antonio for the last two or three months, expressing an interest and actually putting cash offers on the table."

A figure of around £15m is expected to be enough to secure the services of the 23-year-old winger, but Whelan added that his club are not resigned to losing Valencia just yet.

The Wigan chief said: "We are not desperate to sell Antonio, I'm telling you. If I can keep that lad, I'm going to keep him. He is one brilliant player."

I don't really rate this Valencia guy that highly, but I guess SAF knows best and hopefully he does
