Why can't people just be honest and apologize when failed to deliver a promise

Whatever happen, hope you can settle everything with joker ASAP for him and your own peace of mind

Simple scenario, fruitie asked for proof of delivery, wet answered he has proof and it's everyone's fault not to believe him. At the end wet still couldn't come out with a solid proof. Yes he did answer the question, but did he actually proved what's supposed to be his onus?
