I came across both of these guitar brands while I was in Johor Bahru.

The price are the same. Any ideas which is better. Yamaha is commonly known but what about Stagg?

Only those two meh? Got a lot more like the cheaper Takamines.

Don't know about Stagg but Yamaha has good quality control and their low end classical, C40, has a lot of punch for the price.

Thanks for the suggestion.

When I tried out both guitars, Stagg actually sounds better than Yamaha.

I am now undecided as both are priced as the same price.

Do I go for the brand or the sound quality? rclxub.gif

Of course sound quality bro. No point having a Taylor but you don't like the sound right (I don't think I like the sound of a Taylor. Too damn bright)?

I think matte finish makes the guitar quieter. On a lam top guitar, that isn't very good :/.

I have this bias against lam tops tongue.gif. I think they sound more muffled than solid tops, which is expected actually. Maybe it's because the guitars I've played that are lam, my old acoustic and my church's FX310, sound really terrible.

But I played an F310 in Yamaha 1U today (I saw one with a really beautiful wood grain too) and it sounded pretty good smile.gif. They put the solid tops on a higher rack and I was afraid I'd break them so I didn't get to try another FG700S sad.gif.

Anyway the matte thing I read online. So far I've only seen 1 matte finished guitar.

Yamaha for classical and acoustic. Stagg for electric. That's my opinion anyway tongue.gif
