QUOTE(jepertine90 @ May 25 2009, 06:57 PM)
technician came my house today... and I rush home to check how he did...

then he check check check , no idea what he is doing with his laptop...(for 30 mins) and he then he go call some guy from the station and talk~ then run a speedtest, and something eles to show me the speed... then he said no problem in my area, everything superb!!!

Then i ask how come my internet so dam slow? Then he replied, mayb u are surfing at a peek hour... then I ask is 11am-1am is peek hour?? Then he said yes and mayb...

Then I ask again, how come sometimes youtube can stream very good... but myspace, megavideo and dailymotion is slow??? and he said 'We'll check that for you'... then he said got another house to check and gone... ~

T.T speechless?
*
Well i was abit more aggressive on the technician today and almost pissed him off. Here is my situation :

My gf house connection is very unstable. At odd times, connection got stalled and couldnt get a steady line for proper usage. So i called up TM, said will send over a technician. I took half day off, and so happen my company received a new mobile workstation from Dell so i picked that up and headed straight to my gf house.

While waiting, i prep the laptop. Technician came, showed him the computer and he do his thing. The best bit, he saw the slowdown of the speed, just like what they always do, call back to the center and ask for a reset. He concluded, speed is ok and continue on shutting down the computer, unplug the network cable and plug it to his laptop. Showed me the speed, there nothing is wrong, the speed test showed 150% of the speed according to the package my gf subscribed to (1MB combo / 1.8MB showed). And claimed that my gf computer is infected by virus trojan slowing down the connection.

I started being cocky here, i tell him, dont use your account for the speedtest, use the account of this house owner, he refused so i tell him, see over there, i have a brand new laptop, just arrived from Dell 2 hours ago. So he agreed to use that to connect to the internet with my gf account. I connected and the first thing i go is to the TM speedtest site, just like what the technician used and guess what is the result? 20% of the actual speed (1MB / 255kb showed).

Out of the blue, he jumped and said, if i am so smart, work for TM and dont need any technician for such problem. He packed up his thing and scooter off.

Its true, during peak hours everything will be slow but not to such extent. Its not true that the peak hours can be that long. From the technician that came today, i realized that their laptop is well, "engineered" by TM for superb results from any speed test. Since a new laptop could come out with a slow speed results, what explain that?

I have to use MoreVPN to surf net. When gaming, its fine without VPN. 313ms for me in Lord of The Rings Online.

Funny thing is, at times, with VPN, the timeouts is way more frequent. Oh, the MSN is disconnecting way too frequent now.

mine is fast from 1am to 11am, after that it becomes shit. pattern has been consistent like that for the past month or so. i think they are purposely throttling everyone's traffic till they fix whatever the hell they are fixing.
*
Fixing this word does not exist in the mind of TM. Cover up is best to describe their current action tongue.gif

Trottle? a fix to bandwidth allocation during peak hours.
Port reset? To show us they are doing something.
Frequent upgrading announcement? To show us they are furiously "tinkering" the infrastructure to "serve" us better.

Its been years since the 56k days, its like a hamster wheel, going round and round, rinse repeat actions by them.

Try using a VPN to see if works. On my side, even with VPN the sites that i cant visit without still give me either a timeout or page not found.

@phoenixxx nothing to be happy about. Internet is meant for local and offshore content but not limited to local content only.

I tired of changing IP range... Always get the same Ip over and over again... 60.50.xxx is like I'm using static IP...
*
That isnt static IP. You have got it all wrong. What TM likes to do is to assign a certain IP sets for each area. For instance, Kelana Jaya, its IP set is 60.50, 60.49, 118.100 and some areas in Kelana Jaya have an extra set of 124.x

To sum up all this, TM just love to complicate the complicated.

Hi i'm posting this from my office. I'm unable to surf to those websites from my office and home as well.

My home IP address, both 218.xxx & 115.xx cannot access to those sites sad.gif. VPN needs to pay right? So i need to pay again for VPN to access to some sites i can't access?  rclxub.gif

Any free proxy address anyone can share that can bypass TMNut?  notworthy.gif

You can try http://www.morevpn.com/ . Register and you will get your account within 24 hours. Its free as its a sponsored trial account. Only limitations you will need to obey is no downloading be it large files, P2P. The free account is for you to surf websites, video streaming at a better speed.

If you seek for P2P, gaming etc, they have other paid plans to suit your needs.

I am numb to their service disruption announcement since everyday is service disruption to us. Moreover the lesser i complain the more stable my line.

Running on 60.53 and 54

Rapidshare: 100kbs (free)
Megauoload: 10kbs (free)
Mediafire: 100kbs

Why does megaupload speed suck like shit man
*
Due to the routes set by TM. I get good speed on Megaupload and rapidshare but timeout on mediafire @ 60.49 ip.

Didn't read their "announcement"? They are undergoing some upgrades since Friday, expected to last till today.

But anyways, streamyx back to normal for me. Atleast for now. 150kb/s and above on Megaupload.
*
I reconnect and aimed for 60.49 IP. Download speed goes up to 101kb/s and its still downloading now 12 hours to go for a 10GB MMO client.

A very interesting article about foreigners and their encounter of our tortoise pace internet : http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...36696&sec=focus

Just like what i encounter in my daily work. Such conversation numb me to the bones.
