It differs from what I've known.

The stealth firmware is actually detectable but of course, it's harder to detect by the XBOX LIVE moderator by a glance.

I've once heard people complaint about certain user using a pirate copy to online and yet no action is taken to the person. That makes me wonder that why they stopped banning people.

Aiyo. I want to share connection with my PC. My PC's ethernet plug to 5-port switch > modem ... Then I add another PCI slot ethernet to connect to Xbox360.. Cannot share Internet...

Need 40 meters long cable..

It's not ONLY heard story actually, I've also "betrayed" one of my collegue by posting his username to LIVE SUPPORT for using pirate-enabled console.

Yet till now he still can go LIVE and download games without problem.

Try to bridge your connections in Network Connections on your PC.

And then there's all that DMZ/NAT hassle which you'll handle later.
