4. Required Testing When Purchasing:

a) Physically inspect the phone and its package
After you get your iPod, open the box and check whether everything that should be inside is inside.

b) Make sure it is a new unit
If you are paying for a new unit, you can get a rough idea whether if it really is new or not. For ipod touch, there should be a piece of sticker on the screen. And also look at the back of the ipod for scratches. 1 or 2 scratches is normal, but not too many.

c) Test your iPod
Give your new ipod a test. Make sure all the buttons are working and check whether the earphone is working. Give a test on all features.

d)Warranty
If found any problem with your iPod, go to an Apple Reseller store and claim warranty. Apple offers International Warranty. To check if your iPod is under warranty, use the link below to check your warranty information and repair options for your product/location.

*for those who have jailbroken your iPod Touch, warranty will be void. Do an Erase All Content and Settings and restore to the default settings before sending back for warranty.

Here's a list of tips, tricks and hints to get the most out of your Lithium-ion iPod Touch or iPhone battery.

Safety note: If your battery ever becomes too hot to touch while charging then remove from charge immediately and leave to cool [note that it is normal for the device to get warm while charging but it should never be too hot to touch]. If this happens on a regular basis you may need to speak to Apple and possibly return your device and/or USB cable as one or the other may be faulty. Also be aware that cheap USB charging cables and wall adapters should be avoided. It's worth the expense of buying brand names.
