does anybody know how to obtain a permit for an expedition into Belum?

itching to go there. that place is like sacred ground to me.

I can ask few hikers for the permit, but surely you won't got a permit to herp.

But I guess it is not hard to get the permit, the hard part would be to find a guider that can suits your need.

well another theory that I might nuke is that you left the place too moist,

and as we all know, too moist attracts mites.

Too much crawling all over the place, like we already know is bad for stress.

Stress stress stress so she decides to eat the babies?

u gain an unforgettable experience and a lesson even not a teacher can give.

that's priceless lol.

If you do take any lesson and do some research in order it to prevent it from happening to the next batch,

Then indeed it is valuable.

There are also a vet here that is verry friendly biggrin.gif

well actually I want to meet rafiqos to take the longimanus,

so maybe all of us can do some lepak2 session would be fun smile.gif

btw rideon,

those mites, are you sure its parasitic to her?

is it the tiny red2 one or the big white one?

where does it resides? does it move or at certain joint and just static?

does ur scorpion shows any sign of irritating out of itchiness or anything?

white mites should be ok,

it just irritating in a sense that they crawl2 all, the scorpion is just rimas and stressed,

but won't die one because it is not actually sucking the nutrient out and what not,

introduce a big, deep enough container for her to dip her body, but not too deep until drown yah.

I've seen the use of this container in a sense that they attract the mites and the mites drown.

One more thing, adequate water provide ur scorpion a medium to 'bath' and helps remove the mites too (observation wise)

then if u feel like it is necessary, change the substrates and for the following substrates, microwave it first.

It may be a good idea too if you dry it naturally under the sun before you use as substrates.

Aros, some harmful mites tat stick on the scorp body are in white color
I saw it myself on one of my fren's cobalt blue body b4 removing them with vaseline
*
should it be that way, one more way is to determine the size. Usually the harmful one are the small2 one rite?

btw today my first time in the Jabatan,

we actually deal with otodectese psoroptes, ear mites in cats,
so the insecticidal might as well works on scorpions too since we surely cannot inject them with any medication,
it is also a good idea to use antibacterial liquid or antiseptic to totally clear the scorpions.

rmmbered somebody asked about scorps, I did some literature search and found that it is quite interesting.

I believed it was xtracooljustin:

bad reputation, because it is venomous, it has been referred so many times in the bible metaphorically,

you know how it works like,

it can be translated literally and metaphorically,

poor thing some translate it this way:

QUOTE
This frightful creature is several times mentioned in the Bible. It is the largest among insects, and more dangerous than any of them. It is sometimes found in Europe, and is there about four inches long; but those of hot countries are sometimes more than a foot in length.

source: http://www.biblestudytools.com/OtherResour...a.cgi?number=26

if this is true, I'm sure we will drool like crazy.
1 foot is almost 30.5cm, like 12inch or what. drool.gif

and from another source

Scorpio, rising at the onset of winter, is generally considered an enemy of the light and solar gods or heroes. He is usually the bad guy in mythology. The constellation of Orion is said to be the image of the Greek giant Orion, hunting companion of the goddess Artemis.

http://ww2.netnitco.net/~legend01/scorpion.htm

qouted from Bible,

Revelation 9:10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

here is another qoute from the bible,
notice that from Deuteronomy 8:15; Luke 10:19,

The Lord led the Israelites safely through a wilderness filled with scorpions and armed His disciples with the authority to trample upon scorpions; indicating that His followers would triumph over the venomous attacks of the Devil

scientifically speaking, the scorpion that resides there might be LQ. and is surely not AFS, so I don't think we should have negative perception towards all scorpions as they also play important role in medication too, especially conservation of scorpion in MALAYSIA.

another sigh from Greek mythology:
