QUOTE(rideon @ May 31 2009, 11:24 PM)
hi guys.. i just arrive home.. so damn tired.. but it get worst..
The scorps stuff have been thrown everywhere.. i think its that bloody rat. The darking beetles have been eaten all 6 of them... They chew through the plastic enclosure. all are a mess.. that one i dont really mind.. but..
Looked at the mother with babies.. all is gone.. no more babies.. shes FAT! mayb she eaten all of them... i have make sure the tank have water and high in humidity.. what went wrong... F**K!! i can only see one white scorpling thats already dead. To add to the frustration, shes full of mites... i hate my day... driving 12 hours nonstop ... and went home to see  total destruction..  mad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

can it be that the scopling burrow deep into the subs?

My deepest condolence sad.gif

Because mouse attacked and stress the mom?
I dunno if this apply to scorp o nt bt for hamster and most mammal when the mom feel threaten by predator they ll eat the young to gain nutrient so she ll have the energy to run away
But i guess not, the mom eat them most probably because of stress
If she is still plump then maybe she ll continue in future but alot of case from wat i read in VL,
the mom will give birth to dead young and sometimes one get stuck at the genital opperculum and the mom died from it
Good luck lol biggrin.gif

mouse attack? i purposely place every food sources away from my room. the mouse attacked the food source which is in the other room wherass the mother i did not move her. shes in the top shelf. i thought that only a few she will devour. not the entire colony.. huh.. still can give birth ar? but dead one.. man i seriously have to check on her now and then.. and how bout the mites... i have rub some vaseline on her.. and hope those things wont come again...

Added on June 1, 2009, 1:37 amhuh?? what happened when i was gone.. y everyone misses me.. ?
the thing is what triggered her to b so stressed? cant b the rat as her place is really high and no destruction or scrapes on things on the area... only where i place the food, some extra enclosures, and some exoskeleton from previous molts... and majority of my crix have died... but not the pinheads....

well another theory that I might nuke is that you left the place too moist,

and as we all know, too moist attracts mites.

Too much crawling all over the place, like we already know is bad for stress.

Stress stress stress so she decides to eat the babies?

sory to hear that... it seems were not long different after all. only that i lost a very young colony of scorpling.. (1st timer) well it seems that all the containers that i bought at kampung have to wait for the next batch.. i extreamly hope that my 2nd female is gravid.. she does not seems to be getting any thinner..

u gain an unforgettable experience and a lesson even not a teacher can give.

that's priceless lol.

If you do take any lesson and do some research in order it to prevent it from happening to the next batch,

Then indeed it is valuable.

my hh also died wat like 4 days after i got it.. molted but died trying to molt.. hiyaaa.. im just grumpy coz there not even 1 scorpling alive and the cause of dead is their own mother... haiz... damn la.. im just hoping that my prediction is rite... it look like my 2nd female is gravid (looks so but not 100% sure) so hopefully she give birth and none of these ever happens.

I posted this on SF too - Here's some personal but not so great hint on brooding.

I keep the tanks with my mothers that are about to undergo parturition inside a larger opaque container. That way both the mother and babies have the privacy they need. I also keep them along with gecko eggs that I incubate under my bed - the one area in my room with least temperature fluctuations and least disturbance in form of ground vibration. I only offer the mother live food items once after the scorplings set feet on land and separated from the mother. Otherwise, its pre-killed food items for her until they leave her back.

Having no confidence is better than being over confident. My 2 cents worth.
