Hi all

Lemme just give a short brieft of myself.

I am the new user for iPhone. Been using it since 21 March 2010. Before this I've use BlackBerry Javelin, but finally changed it after we got our son an iPod Touch rclxms.gif. Love everything about iPhone.. specially about the net surfing.. Yes, I am very on the move. I barely have time to surf the net using my PC, unless if I'm at the office which my office have blocked all Blog, FB and all website that have to do with Entertainment and Shopping - I am an avid online shopper by the way. This is one of the reason I've changed from an avid BlackBerry user to iPhone just because BB's internet surfing not as great and fast as iPhone/iPod. But then on the other note, BlackBerry's True Push service is super amazing... that as for now, iPhone can't fight .

I've been using My iPhone that I bought from Maxis for my Celcom line nod.gif and actively on the net all the time. Reason I'm posting my thoughts because I felt so pitty for those have been charged over their internet usage on iPhone. So far, I have no problem with my internet service on iPhone (we called it Broadband too for Celcom). Since using BlackBerry I was and still on UNLIMITED 3G service. nod.gif As for Celcom they charge me RM68/month for that UNLIMITED service thumbup.gif . Last time they charged me extra RM30 for the BlackBerry Personal Advance Licence.

I was a Maxis shakehead.gif user on BlackBerry and changed to Celcom because of the lousy doh.gif service for BlackBerry on Maxis and I am happy customer untill now . I'm not a heavy user on 'calls' but on 'sms' yes nod.gif . So far, I never exceed my RM50 Celcom Exec plan as I will always make use of my Broadband Unlimited Service for communicating such as YM. I prefer of using YM rather than SMS to my fellow family and friends - if they have that service with them la biggrin.gif . Ooo I'm also an active online businesswoman... which also helps me a lot with this Unlimited service.

The conclusion is.. to me if you are not using the Data service.. why bother buying the iPhone or whatever phone that have such service? Such a waste of money. This was and until now are one of the problem in the BlackBerry forum (in LYN too). Do some research before you decided to dumb your RM2k for a thing that you will regret later. As for me, I am happy with my iPhone and my Celcom - although they are not that perfecto. But I'm glad. thumbup.gif

to some, phone is not just about practicality, it is about trend too...
that's why problem hit on some who opt the phone not for the data/on-the-go service.

but by the way, good news for all is that, in iPhone OS 4.0, there will be an added feature to turn off cellular data, which means turn off data access on the phone to cellular network. that should help solving ur problem in the future... ;-)

Yes.. I know a few... Well, it's too bad and such a waste if you ask me.. Sorry my word, but it's really pitty to all who been charged too much!

Ooo about that turn on an off the cellular data.. My cousin who is not in any of the data service.. nor subscibe to any of it... have no problem at all with the data usage..
She off her Data and never been charged to the 3G..
She only use the wifi service at home and on the move..
So, I just wondering, why izzit some of us here have been charged eventho they have off the Data service? Pelik tau!

Have to tell, cuz this is the second call, first call the first cs teach me on how to enable it (the usual way key in *21* bla bla bla) cannot.

Then i suspect is the iphone problem, i seek for help from fren (working as Mac support) and advice me to reboot restore reset everything, done that still the same...

Google around, and some ppl having same issue (some not fixed, some fixed by calling the telco)

So decided to call again, and this is the response.

Hi, I think we are in the same situation, where we bought the iPhone at Maxis (for the warranty) but using the different telco. As mine, I'm under Celcom for the pass 1 month. So, far I never have problem with the network for 3G. Yes, sometimes they drop the lines and all, but I've been encounter it ever since I've been using BlackBerry, last time. So, to me it's not the gadget problem, but the network.

Neway, accually, Maxis DO NOT lock the phone for that service, coz if they wanna lock, not only you don't have the access to the 3G but the whole network. So, the problem definiately comes from Digi.. Maybe the only way is you just walk in to any Digi and ask for the problem. But before hand, never mention to them that your device was bought from Maxis.. untill they ask... which usually after they have done everything to troubleshoot.

A day after I bought my Maxis set at Low Yat, I went to Maxis KLCC to fix my MMS problem. Which I can't see the camera icon on my SMS/MMS message and my keyboard has not pop out when I'm trying to email. After a few minutes (almost half an hour), they have fixed the keyboard problem but not the MMS. At the end, they gave such a lame reason - because you are under Celcom, sebab tu tak bole. I wasn't that happy with the answer, but I don't even bother to ague with the SA. At the end, I did some trial and error, wallahh.. now I can easily MMS anyone.

So, the bottom line is, the SA kat Maxis tu bukannya bole dipercayai sangat! Huhu... not enuff training OK!

I am using the RM68 mobile internet unlimited package by celcom. So far I never have problem with celcom.. Last time I was a maxis customer for 10 years.. and now after changed to Celcom, never look back again...

The call and data charges are the best.. Even if you are a low data user, you can opt to use their cheapest rate at RM38/500mb...

Its time to change... smile.gif

celcom so far i cant find any data ( unless brodband packages)accept for its data wit phone plan..

As for Celcom, RM68/month on 3G Unlimited Data service..
The caps is 5G, but if you exceed 5G they will slow down your speed but with no extra charge...
So far so good for me.. I'm quite a heavy user on data service.. never exceed even 1G!
On the net with my iPhone is a great thing! The speed and I never have to worry about if I ever burst my limit huhu...

Ooo before this I was on BIS-BlackBerry for my data service.. at RM98 and after I converted to iPhone, I've asked the CS to cancel my BIS and now am happy with the current service...

true... wonder why maxis not providing unlimited data plan
even their 3gb data cost RM99!

Yeah, after almost 4 months of 'wondering' hmm.gif , me change from Maxis to Celcom while I am using BlackBerry then... thumbup.gif
And yes.. I have never been happier to see my monthly telephone bill.. thumbup.gif
From the day one I am with Celcom... be it with then BlackBerry Internet Service or now with iPhone Broadband service...
The best part of all is, I never need to worry if I ever exceed my telephone bill limit - be it the exec 50 nor the Broadband service... never ever..
Maybe there's some hickup here and there - not everyone's perfect tho, but I just love celcom... rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
