iPhone Data Usage Issues (Maxis, Celcom, DIGI), Usage & Bill diff - High bill charges!

omg.. so scary when reading these horror stories on high bill.
Guys.. i really need your input on this now.
Maxis vs Digi (as of September 2010).
Maxis 500mb upload AND download is a real put off. Definitely not keen especially when the bill can come up to 250/month. Digi seems like the better choice as there is no extra charges for extra data usage.
BUT!
I heard that Maxis 3g speed is 3.6mbps and Digi is 0.7mbps... is this true?
Does it matter? How about coverage area?
Overall it looks like Digi has the better value, but that's on the surface. You guys have experienced it so what is your opinion?

My unbilled amount this morning (8am, 12 oct 2010) was only 90+.
And now I checked (5pm, 12 Oct 2010) unbilled amount RM193?!?!
I used wifi throughout for today...
What on earth is going on!?

I think their excuse of the iPhone data counter is not accurate is a big BULLSH!T. it's just a lame way of not taking responsibility... all they gotta do is blame it on Apple and the problem goes away from them because "it is not my fault"
I have been monitoring my unbilled amount carefully this whole month... and the increase is very gradual until today.
Morning - 90+
Afternoon - 190+
Night - 225!!!
In ONE day?!?

My unbilled amount shot up around 300+ in 2 days... but when the bill came and I studied everything, it was OK. Ard RM110+ for iValue1 (extra charges from pervious plan carried forward).

Yday at Pyramid MC there was this guy who came barging in makin noise about his unbilled amount.. even said he could "KILL" the maxis staff for this.
