It clearly was too late for me to find out all the carzy affairs of maxis iphone. i should have do some research before buying iphone from maxis..atleast finding this forum earlier will definately change my mind on maxis iphone.
i bought 16g iphone from maxis last saturday (27.6.09 at 6pm) at KLCC roadshow and go for data value rm50/month for 500mb. i goes with my postpaid value plus of rm50 (i transfered my number from prepaid to postpaid).
I have checked with the sales girl promoting the phone to me, basically with 500mb i could go approximately 1000 minutes of checking email and light browsing..while 11 hours of you tubing...so i think 500mb is suficient to my usage pattern. i bought iphone just bcoz of the phone feature and not so much on online functions.
now it come to freaing horror part. Just after 2 days..i received sms from maxis saying my unbilled amount has reached 80% credit limit (rm130 of rm150)! how on earth that i could be billed that much in 2 days where my phone indicated data usage of 20mb only! call and sms is very minimum, that for sure.
then i call call centre and they give crap response! i asked how they allocate 500mb data to me since with 2 days my unbilled amount is already reaching limit (which i believe in couple of days i would easily reached limit and will be bared). They explain to me that the 500mb will come as rebate only at the end of the month..which i dont think that is the case.
If that is their billing treatment..those with limit of rm150, i am cock sure they wont be survive until month end to enjoy the 500mb that they paid for! by the way, they unable to give me the details of the bill since it still appear as unbilled item.
1 funny thing about this matter, they got a cheek to say that maybe the high bill could be due to i used my phone to talk and sms....
Maxis is really a god..they seem to know better then we are when come to phone usage although they can show us the detail of their charge..
anybody know how this 500mb data is treated in their billing process...
Have a nice day!

QUOTE(3536837 @ Jul 2 2009, 04:32 PM) i wondering y u guys keep talking the fon got probs.... it is cause of stupid MAXIS agreed with you! do doubt the phone still sucking data through edge automatically even you g=hv shut down the 3g but..how much data it would cost you! 500mb is sufficient to bufer it. we may control 3g usage and could do less to stop edge from kick in (unless me disable it using bosspref etc). but as long as maxis charge us correctly and fairly, it should cause us problems...and the forum wont be this long!hehe

i have read all the comments/problems in this enlightening forum (kudos to person who initiated it!) and from my understanding and point o views, these are the possible area of concern:
1) suspected maxis billing flaws when come to quantify data usage of customer accurately. this is evidence from discrepancies between maxis figure and customer (based on iphone record). - there is nothing we can do..
- if we see this was, If iphone record usage based on actual bytes downloaded..while maxis bill is in 1mb block..it could result in diff beween these 2 records? eg. u browse 2 times at 0.2mb each, so iphone will show 0.4mb downloaded by maxis bill u 2mb instead. we tend to go in and out of the line/browse. anybody got view on this?
2) Iphone feature where the edge could kick in even after 3g has been disable and therefore could result in usage of data unknowingly. - We can do something about it - Bosspref, rubish APN number etc as suggested earlier..
3) for new users, the data package is not activated on the same day customer bought the iphone / register. as a result, any usage of data prior to activation will be charge at damn high normal rate. for new iphone users this is a very crucial period since we tend to download applications form apple store which size around 5 - 10mb / apps..can u imagine how damaging it is? - so..check with maxis when they activated the data package..until it confirm..try to hold ur excitement and dont do any big downloading prior to activation.
i strongly believe my case was on #3. i downloaded 26mb at half cent/kps.
So, most of the problem, in my opinion, can be cointained except for flaws from maxis system..and monkeys manning there cs counter!
Have a nice day!
