For people who travel and roam all the time, please be very careful with the Unlimited Data roaming RM38 a day package being offered by Maxis. I was billed a total of RM22,000 from Maxis recently for data usage abroad. Long story short, i subscribed and was on the plan for first 2 days when i was in HK. After the 3rd day i was mysteriously off the unlimited data plan and was using the regular data roaming without my knowledge. Best of all in my bill, it shows that i was on the data unlimited plan for first 2 days and i was charged RM38 but after the 2nd day the data usage came up to RM11,000 plus. Then it happened again for the month of Dec whereby i mysteriously have RM10,000 unbilled amount waiting to be billed on the next bill cycle. Best of all the first bill was already credited to my credit card. I dont know how else i can explain this to the incompetent Maxis staff that ' Hey its your billing systems error so man up and take the charges off my bill'. This really ruined an otherwise pleasant Christmas and New Year for me.

I will definitely change provider once this issue is resolved. Really pissed off right now. Paying for other people's mistake. vmad.gif

What have you done to rectify the issue? I will make as many reports as i can until they resolve this for me. Its just ridiculous. I m appalled by the level of service Maxis is dishing out to us. Problem is that i have to be up and at the maxis center before they open in order to be the first few in line otherwise its hours of waiting before you get to your turn. Sigh...

after a few hours it turns to normal... but on 19th my unamount bill was at rm400++ and i was barred. i was so pissed off and call the CS and she can only unbar my number and cut my bill on 21st. still pissed, i wrote an email to maxis complaining about this high surge of mine.
that afternoon Maxis representative called me and asking about the situation. i told her and express my dissatisfation to their system which she agreed. we talked about half hour regarding the issues and promised to settle this as soon as possible.
just today i checked my unbilled amount and voila.... it turns to rm70 again....

unbarred the line for me wont settle the cause of the matter. im still waiting for my bills at the maxis portal.

the other thing about maxis billing which really pissed me off is the fact that they charge our usage 1st and at the end of the bill cycle only then they'll calculate how much the actual bill is...
so imagine if i already use 700mb which i am now in iValue2 which means im entitled for a free 2gb usage permonth and they charge me on normal charge.... its freaking crazy man.....

just freaking mad i tell ya

I have made many calls and made trips to Maxis center but to no avail. The issue is still unresolved even after i have proven them wrong as indicated by my recent bill. Its really a pain for me to have to call up and unbar the line after a few days use. I have better use of my time than to call up and repeat my predicament every single time. I m seriously furious and am contemplating whether i should report this to consumer rights group. This is getting out of hand and i m sick of having to argue with incompetent Maxis staff's every time. Although i m not the one paying for the bill but i m still answerable to the high usage cost of my mobile.

Looks like we are hearing the same angry stories over n over again but sadly there are still a bunch of Maxis supporter whom still insist they PAY Maxis for their excellent coverage in 3G !

Im not biased and i do not take sides and im not a maxis supporter in any way. Its just very unnerving to see this happen to so many people. Frankly i want to make a switch but i m stuck right now until the issue has been resolved. I want to retain my number as i dont want to send notices to everyone informing a change of number.

No disrespect to anyone, but i think most of the data usage problems occur because of users' own ignorance (n some by telcos)..mostly these problems happens on the 1st billing cycle, some on the 2nd billing cycle,seldom@none exist on the 3rd onwards billing cycle..me, fortunately been the victim for only the 1st bill n no problem on the next onwards bill.

Most people usually attack telcos directly(same as me at 1st) without knowing how they actually calculated the bill..after some reading n gaining knowledge 'bout the problem,i recalculate the bill n finally have figure it out..so,thats why i have no problem with my bills afterwards..not that i dont wanna help, but most of the solutions actually have been answer right here in the forum, its only the matter of u WANNA READ IT THOROUGHLY OR NOT.

Basically, these r the summary of the solutions:

1) watch out for the 1st bill, the usage is based on pro-rated (how many days since u activate the line)..if u think u can get free 1gb of internet usage where u activated the line 1 day b4 thebill cycle,THINK AGAIN genius,

2) REALLY get to know ur smart phones, explore n enjoy..turn off any unnecessary push notifications, location service,running-on-background apps etc (u guys r smart,u'll know it when u see it),

3) use wifi as much as possible, especially for heavy downloaders..turn off 3g n cellular data when doing so or turn on airplane mode..data loaded with wifi WILL NOT be added to the usage stats,

I admit, some r telcos fault..like why didnt they told users sooner about the 1st bil..they should've done so..or like why the heck they didnt send users reminders when the unbilled@billed amount(wutever!) have reached the credit limit? But hell, sometimes we have to learn it the cruel way, dont u agree?

So,start blaming oursleves b4 blaming others..that way, wecan truly learn about our smartphones.

Btw,i'm using iphone 4 with ivalue1 plus my bills r within rm70-120 per month..fyi, my 1st bill was rm364.90(unbilled was rm800++) coz my genius brain thought that i can get 1gb free data usage for activation on the 26th(19 days to bill cycle)..moreover,i consider myself to FULLY UTILIZE my iphone 4..i love my iphone 4 on maxis smile.gif

Good on you for being a genius. rclxms.gif

I know what happened and it doesnt take a rocket scientist to decipher my bill. Even the maxis staff have no retort to my complaints but it'll take me a lot of time to explain what went wrong and i wont. So i'm sorry if i have stirred the hornets nest and caused some tension here. I was just venting my frustration because i dont just pay 100-200 a month on my phone bill. I spend thousands a month but 10k a month is borderline ridiculous. Its not the first time i use data roaming overseas so i know what i should be fairly charged.

Again i apologize for any tension caused.

Merry Xmas Everyone!!!! biggrin.gif

Maxis billed me 9000++ for a month of data usage in HK but weird thing is... I wasnt even in HK for that month and then they billed me 1K+ for data usage in Thailand when i have subscribed for 5 day bridge unlimited data roaming when i was there with a confirmation sms to prove. Sigh.. How do they expect me to use their data packages overseas anymore. Total billed 20K++ for 2 months. I feel like they are treating me like an idiot.

Wonder if Celcom's customers have this kind of billing issues? Any Celcom user can clear the air on this. Im thinking of switching back to Celcom.

Thanks all.

Dude,i suggest u clear the air from maxis 1st..u complained to us may not solve your issue of that massive billing..why dont u go to any maxis centre n hear them out 1st..of course if i was u,i'd be pissed..but to be clear, hear their side of the story n maybe it can AT LEAST give u an overview of how to stop it.

If that doesn't work out, then u should instruct them to terminate your line there(n make a police report for that matter) n its your choice to use other provider..don't mean to disrespect u,but judging through your comments posted,i dont see u do anything to solve it..how bout u learn the whys, donts n hows(of your particular case)..that way,u can have new knowledge that may help u(even others) in the future..complaining (here in particular) wont do u any good..its about time for u to listen n think..complaining here,u will have responses like e.g. change to other telco, or i told u so etc.

Seriously,i'm sorry about what happened to u n sorry if this comment offend u..but my intentions r for your own good

Dude, i have done the report with maxis and awaiting their response. The issue should be resolved in a couple of days as i have proof via my sms and immigration records. I was just venting and no offense taken from your comment. I totally understand your viewpoint and glad you gave some constructive criticism instead of barraging me with insults. I would not expect changing to other tel cos would solve the issue at hand but would just have to be a little more diligent and screen through my bills every month since the incident.

Cheers mate. biggrin.gif
