Is there anywhere to activate and deactivate 3G/EDGE manually on the iphone so we can activate it only when we know we need to use mobile data services?

Thanks! I havent gotten my iphone yet, just placed my order yesterday. Need to wait another month before i get it T.T
Anyway, a bit worrying to see a lot of customers overshooting the monthly limit, even when the iphone data meter states otherwise. It'll be really annoying to be over charge every single month because then, we'll be too careful and wont be able to enjoy iphone without worrying about the bill |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Oct 14 2009, 07:18 PM) @blstz, Oh, hopefully then because i dont think i'll be using my iphone for tethering. Must to check mails, FB, MSN, surf the net a bit. If you're not doing heavy download u shouldn't have to worry. I'm on the 500mb p/month plan and thus far haven't had any issues with my data usage + bill. Am waiting for this months' bill to double confirm but should be fine. My last bill apparently states 23MB of usage! *gulps* But that's not accurate since I swapped plans then so this months' statement should be more accurate, even then I don't expect it to hit 100MB since my i3GS Usage only shows: Sent: 30.8MB Received: 105MB And that's since I started using the i3GS. The 500MB is including sent and received correct? QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Oct 15 2009, 02:15 AM) @lotus_man. I think it's unfair we charge for receiving MMS since the order party has already paid for it. SMS does not constitute as data service under "Usage"; receiving MMS on the other hand will form part of it. QUOTE(jackhammer84 @ Oct 15 2009, 01:27 AM) Yup I can concur with tinkerbel. I'm on the 500mb package too and haven't gone overboard for the last 2 months. Oh but actually for the last month, I went a little too happy on the internet tethering (accessing net from client's office for work), and by the 15th of the month my counter showed me a total of 504 mb download and upload together. I immediately applied the fake apn profile like I mentioned above for the rest of the month. Anyways, just got my bill, and luckily I wasn't charged for the 4mb extra. Guess i need to set a reminder to reset the counter every month. BTW, when is Maxis billing date? I know Digi is on the 21st of every month so have a rough idea to use up extra credit before they close my account for that month. Anyways moral of the story, u should be alright keeping below the limit, just watch yourself if you're tethering too much |
