I have been using my iPhone 2G jb for more than 1 year, been testing it with Celcom Broadband, Maxis Broadband, and Digi Edge Broadband. 2 month before Maxis announcing iPhone Maxis, they somehow could make me access the Internet with me to set the APN. Now, I have been using BossPrefs to disable the EDGE, and ifconfig regularly in Terminal to make sure, I have no IP number obtained from telcos.

When you are using Maxis Unlimited Data Plan, do not turn off, and turn on this feature via web, repeatedly; Maxis WILL change your Unlimited status to Pay-Per-Use. Got more than RM300 bill for just 24 hours.

Maxis CS told me, "Sekarang ni senang sahaja. Encik pakai, Encik bayar-lah."

@aifoninfo,
I wasn't aware we're able to change our data plan packages via web?!

Yes, you can. This is for normal postpaid, and if you are to toggle some value added features - CLIP, Internet, vice versa. Really do not know about this iMaxis packages. Could not afford iPhone 3G, bought my iPhone 2G, ~RM2K long, long time ago.

At http://www.maxis.com.my/ , click Manage Personal Account: Login. Call your customer support for the password.

In fact, take data unlimited plan for DIGI is the best choice.. no need worry about limit and  just paid rm 66 per month !
(sorry for those who subscribed package of Maxis iPhone)

I have tested iPhone with Celcom Broadband & Maxis Broadband, both have some problem, sometimes maybe, just maybe they purposely stop, block DNS (from their DNS server) to the IP obtain by DHCP to the client, I have to
CODE
cat 161.142.2.17 > /etc/resolv.conf
in my iPhone terminal.

Digi is somewhat superior in streaming data since day 1, with their EDGE connection. Perhaps because of the Digi MobileTV , accessing youtube in Midnite is quite good.

Perhaps everyone with iPhone should go blogging to pay their Maxis/telco bill.

Most ISP use this feature. It is called fair usage policy or fair access policy.

When you reach the limit, the traffic from your device, will be less prioritize, than the other traffic from another device that does not yet reach the limit.

Thus making your surfin and downloading seem slower. If you use your device at 3 AM (or whenever) and there is no other traffic, your speed would be normal (best effort).

For larger size of fair usage policy, for you home computer, consider Streamyx or P1 W1max.

I have called Maxis 123 and they say the same thing tinkerbel says which is the data SIM card is different from the normal SIMs and therefore, the Iphone could not recognise it. Harmeet15, which telco company your friend is using with the iphone? When I tried using the Maxis data line, I get no signal at all.

Jailbreak it, and I am pretty sure it will be recognized.
