w/o data plan is totally disaster. 1cent = 1kb (maxis)..if 250mb??..for sure mati lorr mau bayar...

your 256MB data usage - is it combine for downloading and uploading?

have to combine both. plus some of the data is not recorded such as playing games which background connected to internet. games can cause your bill to go high...

^ are you sure games are not recorded? why so?

I have an unlocked iPhone 3GS from Singapore, using Maxis postpaid plan without data plan.
I have called to the service center to disable the 3G, GPRS and EDGE function of my phone.
However, Maxis still charging me for data usage which i did not use intentionally or under my awareness.
They say that even i disable the 3G, GPRS and EDGE, the iPhone will still connect to the internet through
these stated connections, which charges will be applied.
I do not understand why... AND THEY CHARGED ME RM180++ FOR THAT...

My question is, is there any thing i can do to prevent my iPhone from connecting to the internet, other than using the LAN wi-fi service.
And is that true even i disable the 3G, GPRS and EDGE function with Maxis, the iPhone 3GS can still use these services.

dats weird..once u ask maxis to disable ur data connection (gprs), u shud not be charged. alternatively u cud insert gibberish numbers in ur APN. (nt sure if dat stil works o not, been awhile since used iphone).. mayb ur bein charged for the usage of previous months..

Since you are on iPhone 3GS then update to 4.0.1 there will be an option to off the data service on the setting..with that there won't be any data connection on your phone..

can i tether using my iphone 3G (not 3gs) with IOS 4.0 without problem? im on maxis anyway. iphone from maxis set. not a jailbreak. Standard.

Well on iPhone 3G you can tether because the option there..well connect the iPhone to the com..by USB..ho to option on tether in the phone..slide on and choose USB only..make sure your 3G is on for fast connection and speed..the phone will auto connect and after a while you browse on your pc...the data charges is same as phone..for example 1kb is 3cents..so depends on your usage browsing how many kb download you use...

Use digi smartplan is better. Unlimited Usage.

You are using maxis set?

Go to setting, reset network setting.

Then check at setting>about your carrier is digi 7.0..

If cannot, need to manually input apn data..

u shud get a data plan. iphone w/o data plan is going to be really expensive

But i believe there is no data plan for prepaid right? since CL state that he "topup"

btw CL, the only solution is you have to use data plan, if maxis then you cna buy data bundle in garage sales( it so hard to find it these day) and if postpaid can apply data plan.

but if you update to iOS4 you can disable data service on your iphone but when ever someone want to send MMS to you then you must open the data service in you iphone.

but truly speaking its better to have data bundle especially in iphone because we can use it to its limit
