Too bad.
Velodyne DD18 can;t join the shootout.
Just like you all describe, the lower the frequency, then the better the subwoofer is.
Means the DD-18 which is at 14 hz wins the shootout?
But IMHO JL Audio still rocks well since it has been highly recommended and 2009 absolute sound winner too if im not wrong.
But the shop in Amcorp Mall always close vmad.gif
And what is the frequency that the PB13 can dig?

yeah that's the point.. if not appealing graphs, you think svs owners want to post these graphs meh..  biggrin.gif
*
Since SVS is really that good, why the JL Audio win more awards while the SVS had nothing? blink.gif

shakehead.gif why cabut? LOL...

To set record straight, I had never claimed it is the best whistling.gif . The top ought to be ED A7-900 and followed by Epik Conquest. I think Seaton Submersive should be a close second. In local scene, it could be Paradigm Sub25. I used to have high regards for Paradigm esp the Servo 15.

As you have space constraint, the F113 is the sub to look for, which I did mention earlier icon_rolleyes.gif . Btw, I thought you are die-hard DD-12 fan ( http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1120113/+180 ) since you had only audition it hmm.gif Bro, do let me know when you had purchased the F113. May I bring the 13-Ultra for a side-by-side comparison if you allow? Just want to know how far the Ultra is losing out wink.gif since F113 won many awards. And if got B&W PV1, much better. The Sub of The Year winner and most importantly, it has won WHF Award for best high end sub for SIX years since 2004 (since awards matter to you) tongue.gif

Sorry boss for replaying late.
Haha afraid being hantam by you tongue.gif
Submersive?should check the website or avs forum later since I had never heard this brand before.
Since you have mentioned it earlier it should be a good brand too.
Yea.Paradigm sub is good but I never listen to it before.
And I never audition the DD12 before since A&L puchong and amcorp mall never had one.
Maybe sold out or waiting for the new DD series.
But hey boss, for your opinion, which sub better(not SVS sub) in btw Velodyne DD12 and JL Audio F113?
And not to say award la.Depends also what sub that win the award biggrin.gif
And i just auditioned a REL sub last week at CMY at balakong.
The bass sounds like very (lembik).
Not that punchy and the price is quite expensive.
If im not wrong their list price is RM9K++
Or maybe REL sub is meant for music since CMY sell more equipments for music only.
And sure bro, when I find out which sub is suitable for me,and maybe I will allowed you to had a shootout icon_rolleyes.gif
And btw Merry Christmas. smile.gif

But HT kaki,do you listen to DD12 or F113 before?
How do you know DD12 would lose to F113?
If you listen to it before maybe I would consider your opinion.
But sounds very wrong here if you just judge a subwoofer performance by just reading graph and spec.
Maybe still we must listen to it only we make a conclusion here icon_rolleyes.gif

And between,if F113 edge out DD12 maybe DD15 still can win F113 whistling.gif
F113 is around rm13k plus and which I think a little more expensive than DD12.
But DD15 should be around rm15k plus sweat.gif
If i choose expensive sub, maybe i will decrease the budget for speakers sad.gif
If not later BINI mad.gif

Added on December 28, 2009, 12:20 am20K for Paradigm sub?
NO shakehead.gif
My budget for subwoofer is around rm12k till rm14k.
Hopefully not more than rm15k.
If not, need to eat nasi bungkus for few months sad.gif

Haha..... I have nothing to say on that if you are a die-hard Velo fan icon_rolleyes.gif .

Probably, you think that I am those guy who only base on graphs and typically awards to judge a sub tongue.gif . I have not listen to F113 pitted against DD-12 wink.gif . But, F113 stills has an upper edge on tautness and better control at lower HZ range. It is also cleaner too.

Just bring the Terminator Salvation BD to both shops. Ask them to get it tune to 75dB on SPL Meter to match the front speaker (They tend to run it hot). Test it out the 7-11 scene (Chapter 9?) and the scene where they escape. And also other BDs that you are familiar with. Oh yes, before I forgot. Both rooms are different. There will be a certain degree of variance.  Test it out at -16 to -12dB off the ref level. You tell me the result  smile.gif

Frankly speaking, if you are going for a RM13K sub, please do make abt similar allocation for the speakers or more. It deserves a better spkr sys to match it. Please get higher midrange avr too. Probably LX-82, 4310, or similar category or higher.

To add more here would be seemingly bias for some ppl due to my position sweat.gif . There is a guy who did audition quite a number of subs. Nadky did audition the F113, REL, and so forth. I am not sure whether he has auditioned the Velo before. He might be in a better position to comment than me as some people tend to 'shut their minds' on my comments that do not please them or seemingly not what they intend to read  blush.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

shocking.gif watch Terminator Salvation at the GSC Pavillion before.
I think it is a THX certified movie and THX cinema too.
Their bass was so deep and strong.
Enough to shake my heart inside
Never know bluray also so geng!
Awesome thumbup.gif
And most probably im going for PSB speaker.
If budget enough, maybe for the Synchrony TWO(not one since it is expensive)
Or if really been poisened 99 and the price btw Synchrony 1 and 2 is not that far apart, then I will go for Synchrony One.
And im looking for a pre and power combo set up.
No need to upgrade anymore
And Mark Levinson price is enough to left a big hole on my wallet and bank account.
So maybe Rotel or NAD.
I tested the Pioneer LX82 before at Desa Home theatre.
A very powerful and awesome amplifier too

Nadky?
Maybe should pm him.
And FYI,I never think negatively about you.
And seriously la Taukeh,by the way you explain things about HT gears I know you are a very professional taukeh.
And again,if you are a JL Audio,Sunfire or Velo distributor,I would happily buy it from you icon_rolleyes.gif

What you are looking for is a compact subwoofer, which I am sorry that I do not have one to suit your preference.

I am not a pro, for the record blush.gif . Still learning as others do.

Once you had it all setup, would you allow me to audition it? I will bring the 13-Ultra along. You must be a reg cust at A&L. hmm.gif

I had auditioned the PSB Synchrony 1 recently. Will go there again once it is being fine tuned.
*
Nevermind taukeh, its okay no need to sorry.
LOL you are a pro by the way you explain.
And between my house is still under renovation.
Should be ready before CNY and yes you are always welcome when everything is ready.
Im not a regular customer.
Just that A&L had every gears that I interested.
While AV Designs and Perfect Hifi selling all expensive brands.
CMY more on music.
Thats why I had to look around for a suitable and affordable system.

PSB synchrony one drool.gif
How was it?

With bluray I think it is possible to equal or even exceed the cinema experience if you have sufficient budget. With good equipment, good room and good setup it's possible.
Looks like your HT room will shape up nicely. The PSB Synchrony is a very nice speaker. It definitely deserves a power amp to drive it well. I agree that a pre/pro and power combo is the way to go for you.
*
Boss you tested the PSB Synchrony One before?
Any comment?
Went to Amcorp Mall on last Saturday.
They demoing the PSB Synchrony with Densen Audio mono.
The sound was so sweet and detail.
And their bass is very strong for a floorstander size like this.
But for HT setup, what do you think bro?

I have listened to PSB Synchrony One briefly before... can't say I've tested it. Good bass, clear mids and treble. Yes I think it would also be suitable for HT use.
*
Wow.
Should go for another demo again.
Thanks bro notworthy.gif

bro, i have also not tested both DD12 and F113 and certain not a pro too.. but there was a respected sub guru called craigsub from tweakcity who tested almost all the best subs available at that time, he had placed DD18 on top of his list until F113 was launched and took the top spot.  Afterthat many more new subs overtook DD18 too.

i know craigsub's opinion should only be used as a guideline but DD12 is clearly not in the same league.  Maybe u should try DD18 if u want a fair comparison.  Anyway if u r interested u can have a read here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=768150 scroll down and look at post #8 ...  F113 is the only 'small' size sub that could hang around with the big boys
*
Wow as HT KAKI described before.
Epik conquest stil one of the best sub.
Actually I starting to pay serious attention towards JL f113 now.
But AMCORP MALL AV Synergy always close mad.gif
No chance to audition it sad.gif

With your krell...?  drool.gif Thought he RMA his processor?

@ Benben:
Other than PSB Sync 1, why not consider Paradigm speakers as well?
And on JL F113, other alternative would be EPIK sub direct from US with you huge budget on sub...  brows.gif
*
Yes I am also trying to pay a visit to Asia Sound at Amcorp Mall.
But last Saturday they never open sad.gif
Paradigm speakers are good too.
If got money, surely I will buy Paradigm Signature S8.
But too expensive sweat.gif
So maybe Synchrony more suitable.
Epik?
No la boss.
Maybe JL Audio F113 or DD12/DD15 might enough.
Since my room is just medium size.
Around 14 x 22.
And taukeh,a JL Audio F113 suitable for this room size?
If one maybe its okay.
If two I can;t do anything.
2 sub is veryyyyy expensive.

Krell is nothing lah to a lot of elites here sweat.gif We are peasants trying hard to be elites blush.gif

Seriously, if I have a lot of moolah, I would definitely want to try out SF for movie setup. Palladium would the next step up given money no object. All to be driven by 2 channels power amps.

Back to reality. That's aint going to happen in near future, even in a further distant future  sweat.gif
*
Wow Taukeh.
Krell is nothing?
A hi end power amp can easily buy a condominium.
And if im not wrong its the KRELL FBI drool.gif
But im not a DATUK class,so no need to buy KRELL.
SF?Sonus Faber?
Though it is meant for music only?
And Klipsch Palladium is not cheap.
More than 10k USD sweat.gif

benben79, try to call them before you go : 03 7955 1228

ronald, I paid a visit to Unc Ng on last weekend. Will go there again once everything is ready. I will prepare 'poison' for him. LOL....
*
Ok boss.
Don't know why they always close.
Selling Hi end stuff such as RUNCO,Meridian and JL Audio also can do business like this mad.gif
I went there 3times including last Saturday but still never open.
So ended up at A&L listening to PSB Synchrony One.
Really a very awesome speaker.
A floorstander speaker below 5k USD can achieve a soundstage like this is really unbelievable.
Or maybe their source is good too.
And boss you tested the Synchrony One recently also?
If for music, try to buy a Chinese Audiophile cd name Paramita.
During AV Show 2009,Perfect Hifi use this cd as their demo cd pair with Wilson Audio Sasha,Dcs Scarlatti and Pass lab mono.
Can buy a BMW with this set up.
And this cd(Paramita)song number 7 is really a suitable music to test speaker bass.
Just my opinion....
