Good. Can you try to increase loudness and play the testtone at 20hz? I want to see how loud can this sub go. If you can reach 105db, then at USD 1k + 25% tax (less than RM 5k) is a good buy.
*
what are the signs if it can't reach 105db; distortion? What is the purpose of this test - max loudness?

You will see that the db do not increase even if you increase the volume. But normally at this level the distortion is quite high. What does it mean if it can't hit 105db? Nothing unless you listen at reference level. That means your sub can't produce the dynamic sound of the movie. Eg, if you normally listen at 85db, and your sub can play up to 100db, you'll have 15db headroom. Normally movie or ochestra have a dynamic range of +-20db, meaning at the most dynamic scene or sound, your sub will not reach the max.
*
good to know. thumbup.gif

how about if i lower volume to match the 20db headroom needed but hen have to sit nearer!! hmm.gif

bro whenu r free can u take off your bass trap for rew reading.. then compare with rew with bass trap.. very ghairah if the bass trap we r making is useful or not
*
if no use also it makes your room look mysterious and magical. brows.gif

anyway, tried already with and without wall panels for main speakers. lucky, got some differences/improvements. haha tongue.gif

note: i'd suggest making your bass trap thicker, maybe 8". check this out: DIY traps

i've done a simple test using REW to measure the effects on FR by removing just 1 front corner bass trap in my room.

With front corner bass trap, 80 Hz crossover:

After removing the front bass trap; note the circled areas.

so, definitely worthwhile to install bass traps and also looks like the more the merrier. biggrin.gif

i'll have to install more as well. brows.gif

anyone know how to read these waterfall charts:
with bass trap

overlay of the 2 charts

I made several QRD's (Quadratic Residue Diffuser) recently for my back wall.

It's suppose to be effective around 704-3390 Hz based on my dimensions.

bos, this chart, is it possible to make the Z axis until 1000ms ? (current max from 0-300ms only)

cos still lots of low Hz bass lingering after 300ms..

I think need EQ1 to test test.. (ask maxx to pinjam 1 unit..  biggrin.gif )
*
wondering if the EQ1 can tackle time domain problems i.e. room mode issues?

Hi Anfieldude,

I read back your post and u said that putting d Audyssey mic on chair is not the right way and we should put a tripod..

I've been putting the mic on my chair all this while as my AVR didnt come with a tripod... What is the difference between with and without using a tripod?
*
would suggest you read the Audyssey setup guide here:

my one is 4 inches thick using 80kg/m3 but my FR chart so-so only. So, i'm thinking must make thicker and denser to try get something like EQ1 chart result. brows.gif

also, my waterfall chart is not good at lower end, too much resonance longer than 300ms.

don't forget ur ultra got lots of boom boom pow tongue.gif:
