QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 3 2009, 05:56 PM) Do you have a degree? MICPA, ICPAS or Australian/US CPA? QUOTE(yiivei) i plan to fly over ther by next month as i hv no intention to apply thru jobstreet or others.. employers will tend to ignore my resume since im not singaporean nor PRs.. So, you're just going to walk up to their offices? You have at least sent a resume in and been called for an interview, right? yes i hav both degree and Aus CPA. Isnt ther any walk in interview rite?

If your Big4 experience is solid, I think the opportunities are still there as you'll edge out the freshies and those coming from smaller firms. However, if you don't send in your resume first, how are you going to get interviews? Walk in interview lor.. Unless, Sg co. din use this kind of interview process.. If not, then i will juz send my resume over ther when i reach ther..

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 4 2009, 05:32 PM) The only places I've seen that have walk in interviews for graduate level positions are factories and hotels. If you're targeting big audit firms or MNCs, I'm afraid the receptionist might not even buzz you in through the security door. For eg. my office has no receptionist in the reception area. Only a telephone which works only if you know what extension to dial. I got no idea bout that. Thanks for the heads-up. Now, my plan is to fly over there 1st. Then get a local newspaper to hunt for suitable jobs to send out my application. After tat, wait for them to call me up for an interview. Does Sg got varies newspaper like Msia does? If yes, which newspaper is highly recommended? Thanks in advance. Added on June 4, 2009, 9:47 pmQUOTE(chess_gal @ Jun 4 2009, 08:02 PM) I agree with seantang, you have to book a time, not turn up unexpectedly. It would look very very weird if you just show up without any appointment. No every HR Manager would wait there for ppl to show up for interview unless it is advertised in the media. Good luck though. Thanks for the reminder. This post has been edited by yiivei: Jun 4 2009, 09:47 PM

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 4 2009, 10:48 PM) In this economy, you could be in Singapore for while. Check out http://www.efinancialcareers.sg/as well. The site's more banking finance oriented but sometimes has straight finance and accounting jobs. One thing though is that the majority of the jobs are mid career ie. you've got at least 5 years experience and probably already drawing 5-10K. But then again, there's always the rest of the minority. Bro seantang, really appreciate ur help.. thanks a bunch!!

QUOTE(chess_gal @ Jun 5 2009, 11:11 AM) yiivei, do you happen to have relatives in singapore? best to stay with your relatives as it will be close to a month before getting any replies. Local graduates from NTU and SMU are graduating real soon, so most probably local firm will hire the locals first since they are eligible for the Job;s credit scheme (Gov subsidies local staff cost). A risk to take to come here without a job. Ya. I do take note of that. Tats wat worrying me. I got friends over ther. I can bump at their place w/o worries.. Btw, i hav no intention to re-join audit line..
