Hi all,

I've just moved to Kuala Lumpur and am currently hunting for a job in the Oil & Gas industry, have a few interviews lined up already! I'm trying to meet up with any other expats that are living here, do you know any? What companies do they normally work for??

Thanks

I believe he come here with the visiting visa, and not the working visa. At this situation and market, i believe it is hard for company to hire expat due to a lot of other factors.

I'm an expat, but I'm working for a manufacturing company. I don't know that many expats here. Not really a good idea trying to find a job now...

I know this one MD (expat) from a really huge company, gosh he's a joke. Come to this country thinking he's king, but actually can't even do his job properly. BS a lot.

Tell me about it, many MD expats they have gigantic ego's think they own everything because their dollar stretches further in conversion to RM. quite pathetic, what ever happened to down to earth expats... i used to goto expat mingle's all the time, but not as often anymore, same group, same talk. boring... yawn.gif

I'm from Canada.

www.expatkl.com is quite nice, however I don't attend their functions or meetings. They have an expat magazine and as long as you provide your passport number and details every month they'll send you a magazine on the latest meetings updates and things to talk about. I get a little bored after awhile always hearing about "what you bought, or how cheap this country is, or how easy it is for you to run the malaysians into the ground, or how this sucks and that sucks, or what type of house you bought or car etc" its really a drag after the first few times.

Do you research thoroughly before you accept a job here. Many things definitely not the same as UK. Alot of things are selectively substandard versus other countries.

nothing to do with rich or poor .

kepong is not a expat hangout , not saying that it is a bad place .

I love working class places and I try avoid Bangsar type places at all costs.

Most expats live in Hartamas, Mont Kiara and also Bangsar.
Go any pubs/bars in Hartamas and you'll find most of them there.

Kepong is not an expat hangout, thats pretty obvious. Mostly its Sri Hartamas, Mont Kiara, Bangsar, etc. Slowly up and coming fraser hill.

Txi, think before you talk. Dont be a moron. If you don't know anything, best idea is to shut up.
