oo~but most of the Ts can survive in our country right andrew?thanks oldfart brothaR~
*
yup- most will. I've got a P. rufilata and a couple of other species that supposedly come from low temp areas but they've survived so far in my T- room. But I've only had them for like 8 months so maybe they won't do so well as they mature. We'll see. Summer's not over yet! tongue.gif I think even those from cooler places will survive, so long as you keep em where the temps don't get too high all year round.

Ya most T i propose can survive, they are quite hardy animals but yet they have their vulnarable moments.

Mr Stew: Ha, i persuade mine to gave me a nice shake i just cant miss it, most of the time it just lazy to bother about me. Btw,If the guy from the club have a way to keep it, you probably can do it. Because the reason that its so gorgeous i will get it in a blink of an eye. But do not let my selfish mind of owning every T possible influence you.
*
lol. I'm so tempted too but I'm already getting 3 T's from him. Don't want to add any more. In addition to those 3, I'm still waiting for 6 chinese T's to come in and another 4 from another guy I'll be picking up at the reptile show at the end of next month. I had to give away a bunch of T's to make space for these. Don't know what else to give away! hmm.gif

QUOTE(austinlai @ Aug 16 2009, 01:04 PM)
hi guys~
need help here.
I was spending almost 2 hours daily juz for killing ants tat invade my Ts' enclosures and those on the shelf tat i put my Ts.
Eventhou i killed 1000 of them, there're still another 1000 of them waiting for me the next day i wake up.
really pissed me off~Geramnya~~~ vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif
So i made a container filled wif water and put them at each of the "legs" of the shelf im using to put my Ts.
And guess wat, those ants even go inside the water and attempt to swim across to reach the shelf.
Althou 90% of them will drown in the sea,but i was suprise tat there're still survivors!!!
So,the conclusion is,the water method doesnt work.
They can ignore their life juz to mess wif my Ts.

All the while im putting my Ts in my room.
when i 1st started wif ony 1 tarantula, there's no ants problem.
Now as my Ts number increasing, the amount of ants also increasing~!
I clean my Ts' enclosure everytime after they eat, there's no visible food leftover.
And i can ony place my Ts in my own room coz im living wif housemates.

Any other method i can prevent those ants?

thx~
*
I use commercial ant bait. Ants go in grab the stuff and return to the colony. Wipes out the colony. Usually takes 2-3 days. 4 days tops and no more ants. But Malaysia is a different story- got so many different kinds of ants! Not sure if it will work but it's worth a shot.

Lets see, one in your shirt pocket, one in each of your jeans pocket, and a pair of film canister ear rings! That's 7 slings! rclxs0.gif

where can i get this?
thx
and where i can get this as well?
are u talking about the same thing as Oldfart or its a different thing?
i'd like to try both.
*
Don't know where you'd go to get ant poison over there. I haven't been to a Malaysian supermarket since 1987. Over here they sell ant traps with the poison pratically anywhere- Supermarkets, hardware stores, pharmacies etc.

by the way has any of u tried cross breeding b4?? just wanted to know if it is possible.. beetween the same family la..
*
Never tried cross breeding but it is possible- though not looked upon favorably within the hobby. If you do get a viable sac, please inform whoever you give the babies to that they are hybrids.

So whts the negative aspects to it then?
*
Don't really know. tongue.gif I've seen discussions come up from time to time on other forums but never really followed it. My guess is it frustrates people when they see a T and aren't really sure if it is a hybrid or a new species or a mutation. Some might think it is a waste of a male's sperm or the male if it gets crunched during the mating process. Don't know if hybrids are fertile or not. If they aren't fertile then it's really a waste of sperm. biggrin.gif
My personal view on this is... it's your T, do as you wish; but if you have babies from that experiment, be careful with it- don't distribute it without telling others that it is a hybrid.

My N. coloratovillosus molted. Really tore up the skin trying to sex it but I think there is enough to give a positive diagnosis. tongue.gif

Haven't seen it since it molted- it has not come out of the burrow yet. Her old skin measured around 4.25 inches diagonally.

At what size do LV males turn green? I got two small ones about 4 inches. One is real blue and the other is bluish.

This is the bluish one

Could the first one be a male? Ventrally it looks female.
Maybe it's an effeminate male? hmm.gif tongue.gif

escaped. fxxk! jst open de container n it jump out n gone... i even carried de whole table into de toilet spraying water, n nth found. shit!
*
Might have jumped off while you were carrying the table to the toilet. Lot's of people have found their T's near the laundry area too. Good luck! Hope you find it!

ETA: Try this, wake up in the middle of the night around 2 am. when it has been dark for a few hours, and walk around the house quietly scanning the walls and ceiling with a flash light. Start with the room you lost it in.

any clue on what the actual species is for the haplopelma sp ?
looks nice though. smile.gif

It was supposed to be a H. longipes but it doesn't look like one to me. Looks more like a sp. "Vietnam"/ H.vonwirthi I think.

Take a twig or long grass and tickle the burrow. If it is hungry it will come out and investigate.
