It's only itchy if you get haired.  I don't stick my hand in their cages often so I hardly ever get haired.   
I find if they have a safe place to retreat, they tend to retreat rather than stay out and hair.   Fortunately I do not own any psycho T's, most just run and hide in their burrows if I have to disturb their enclosures. 
It is a great hobby!

How big was their mama?  See if you can get some more info from the seller like which country it is from- that will help to narrow down the list of likely candidates.

my theory on why butt becomes black:

while the process of shedding skin demand the tarantula to prepare for the new layer underneath the old one, then the blackened part u've seen must be the 'repairing and constructing' process,

as u see the colour become less vibrant, they are actually preparing for 'break off'.

as in the electromagnetic wavelength, white has high frequency then black, and as frequency is proportional to the energy,

black colour means less energy,

means they are conserving energy like the breaking off of molecular structure where the energy are needed to break the bond.

This is what you call a problem with moulting.


My largest OBT female just passed away due to moulting failure.
Nevertheless, she gave me 2 good sacs. RIP my girl.
