Just got done with my new enclosure to rehouse my S. crassipes. Nothing fancy, just a 10g tank of dirt with a started burrow.

QUOTE(dizzychef @ Jul 22 2009, 01:07 PM) Good day to you Oldfart. I know exactly what you are going through. I'm not a good one to ask for space saving tips. You kept lots of Tarantula, I am curios about methods of housing Ts. It will be an headache if all my slings grows up. Mind to share picture of ur enclosures? It will be great. Thanks. I kept my adults in guppy tanks so far, planning constructing glass tanks for em. Making sliding lids for my 10g terrestrial tanks allows me to stack arboreal cages(which have a smaller footprint) on top of the back half of the terrestrial tank while still giving me access to the T's in the lowest row. It also allows me to stack more tanks on shelves without requiring a lot of height between rows. That's about the only thing I have come up with to save space. QUOTE(junshern222 @ Jul 23 2009, 07:09 AM) keep an eye on the folded limbs steward,i have enough if these man.. How's your T doing? Sad to say, most times, there's not a whole lot you can do. If this girl does have nematodes(being an old WC specimen it is very likely, or some other parasites), I'll just feed her a lot and hope she enjoyed her meals! start looking for solution now before its too late.good luck, dont end up like mine. but sometimes folded limbs may occur when they are grooming their underneath,so u have to make sure its actually gromming or something bad going on.. Added on July 23, 2009, 10:21 pm QUOTE(rideon @ Jul 23 2009, 07:16 AM) The male I had from a 1 inch sling is not yet an adult- bout 5 inches now. QUOTE(dizzychef @ Jul 23 2009, 10:43 AM) Didn't get to sleep, been all day with my friend on his construction site. Anyway story is - i drop by a local pet store, saw a B.boehmei justed molted in enclosure, requests to see its exo-skeleton for sexing. He said he cant take it for me, this SPIDER can kill him, and hunted birds in the wild, only ORANG BERANI keep it. Imagine the information his providing to everyone asking. |

QUOTE(rideon @ Jul 23 2009, 11:51 AM) wow... thats er... quite alot.. (damn alot!!) its just eye popping.. How in the world you feed all of them.. for me.. with the collections i have now took me 1 hour at least to feed them all. wonder hows urs.. damn... but i like the way u stack things and obviously u got soome rare sp.. It does take a while but I don't do them all at once. I also like to feed them 3-4 cricks at a time so they get full faster. Once they are full, don't really need to feed them till they molt. Added on July 24, 2009, 3:25 am QUOTE(Izzulogy @ Jul 23 2009, 11:58 AM) ahh.. understood.. the best way to make a good space to keep many Ts is by having a whole room for them! lol Hence I call it my T room the stacking is really2 nice, and a lot of things that is utilized to be a tank for Ts! like jugs, peanut butter jar.. carls jr cups.. hehe really nice!!!! lol- the Carls jr cup is for holding the crickets while I feed the T's. Otherwise they will be jumping out- as it is, some still can jump out of that tall cup. Why waste money on nice enclosures for slings when they will outgrow it in a few months. Added on July 24, 2009, 3:33 am QUOTE(rideon @ Jul 23 2009, 12:04 PM) at least you have a nice window for the T's to have sunlight.. i only have a small room which has no window so i place everything in my room.. At least you have the option of placing it in your room- my family don't really care for my T's being near them. So they are in our spare car garage. Every time I want to go check on them , I have to go outside of the house to do it. Not exactly convenient. This post has been edited by Oldfart: Jul 24 2009, 03:33 AM |

QUOTE(Foxngn @ Jul 23 2009, 07:11 PM) OMG ! Stunning pack of collection you got there, Old Fart...you must be having some good time arrangement to take care of those T's Thanks, I'm just waiting to move in with my GF- then I will rearrange everything properly. Right now not a whole lot of fun going in there- feels like an oven with this hot weather. I go in and feed like 15 T's and I'll be covered in sweat.Added on July 24, 2009, 11:47 am QUOTE(HuonHengChai @ Jul 23 2009, 07:26 PM) lol- if i could afford a ticket, I'd have come visit you guys already!Added on July 24, 2009, 12:00 pm QUOTE(leetplayer @ Jul 23 2009, 07:48 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Now this I can afford! QUOTE(leetplayer @ Jul 24 2009, 12:47 AM) Leetplayer's spider army getting ready to dominate the world!! Could have been worse! Good thing they don't reproduce like LP's! Added on July 25, 2009, 9:15 amMy new dubia colony enclosure. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Unfortunately, the post office guy left my roach package on my front porch, in the sun and all the adult roaches got baked! Good thing the vendor messed up my order and forgot to ship 200 mixed size dubias. He will be sending my 200 mixed lot and another 50 pairs of adults. A female can produce 20 baby roaches a month. So 50 pairs = 1000 babies a month! In a year I'll be swimming in roaches! This post has been edited by Oldfart: Jul 25 2009, 09:15 AM |

QUOTE(freakfingers12 @ Jul 24 2009, 11:50 PM) Oh damn. My tarantula enclosures got intruded by mites. Does anyone have a simpler solution rather than changing their enclosures? If they are scavenger mites, and they are not bothering your T- just let the tank dry out. Try to find all food boluses and remove them so they have nothing to eat. |
