hello.
newbies here.i got OBT sling around 3cm that needed a new container.but dunno how to move it safely as it run very fast... doh.gif
any idea?
*
How big is the container it is in now? How big is the new enclosure? if it is currently in a small pill bottle, just remove the cap and stick it in the new enclosure. If you set up the new enclosure right, it will settle down in the new enclosure eventually, then you can remove the old one.
Or plug up all the holes in the bathtub and do your transfer there- just make sure the bathtub is clean and it should have trouble climbing the sides should it get away from you.

Looks like a H. longipes to me. You caught your KB off guard! My KB won't even come out -
*
Good guess- it was bought as H. longipes. But it does not have the big scopula on Met IV(yet!) Still keeping my fingers crossed that it will develop as she get older. Whatever it is, she's a beaut!
I did catch her off guard! tongue.gif The KB is a recent acquisition- she is still expanding her burrow. Plus it is close to midnight here! They do come out occasionally when it is dark and my T-room is pitch black till I turn on the lights.

One of the theories going around is that mice has too much calcium and may cause molting problems. I haven't seen any studies done so I do not know if it is true or just a guess.

Some will molt right side up or sideways. Don't go flipping them on their backs if they do. tongue.gif

Attended my T-club meeting and walked away with some goodies.
A 4" T. blondi (wasn't really looking for another one but the price was right- they had much bigger ones but I chose the smallest)

Nice blonde stew. How much does it cost you there?
*
3-6" Females going for US$110. I ordered a 7 legged female from an online dealer for US$89.
The 4" one(unsexed) I got for US$60 at the meeting.

Prices have come down a bit recently. Read somewhere that someone imported 500 blondi's not too long ago. Could be this sudden glut in the market that is forcing the price down. Just speculating. biggrin.gif

some new pics...

Lasiodora klugii 3.5" juvie - recently molted
user posted image

Lasiodora parahybana - about 7"
user posted image

Phormictopus cancerides 4.5" juvie- getting bolder, no longer runs and hide when I slide open the lid
user posted image

T.blondi 4" juvie- recent acquisition, eating well and putting on some weight
user posted image

Aphonopelma sp. "Flagstaff"- beginning to show some adult colors, should be very pretty after next molt
user posted image

Ornithoctonus aureotibialis sling/juvie- sorry, can't get a better pic. I'll rehouse this one in 2 molts, should be able to get a better pic then. Think I may have lost one of my slings, haven't seen it in a while and the burrow looks to be in disrepair.

Its that aureotibialis? My 2inches sling have the golden strip on their tibia already!
It is- mine are smaller than 2 inches so maybe they will get their stripes within the next molt or two. biggrin.gif

Looks good. Think you should have a donation link. Something convenient like a paypal account where members can help donate to help with the costs of maintaining the site, funding functions, field trips etc.

male or female?  hmm.gif

Hard to tell. Need a clearer pic. From what I can see (or can't see) I would say female. Though the straight line at the EF sometimes means male even when no dense patch of hairs are visible. Best way is still to examine the exuvium. I've had confirmed males with boxing gloves even when ventrally they look like females.

Nice! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Here are my new arrivals today- A six legged beast. Probably lost both legs to a bad molt- which is why she was cheap biggrin.gif . I hope I can fatten up that girl a little and get her to settle down quick. She's going to be a challenge but I hope her next few molts will go smoothly.
