Anyone tried creating OVI account today? For some weird reason, i keep getting error...GRRRR

Tried Facebook widget (as seen on N97) on 5800 but seem cant connect either. Facebook widget for 5800 and N97 available on Ovi or direct download from here

Are you on Maxis 3G? Maxis having some problems today. Seems like instead of using the Maxis 3G Internet access point, connect using Maxis 3G WAP will work.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Users Meet-up, interested?

Hi guys,

I've not been chatting much here (low post count wink.gif ), but I've been on this forum for some time. Let me introduce myself properly - davidlian is my real name, and I do some public relations work with Nokia Malaysia (I'm not a Nokia employee, I work for an agency that works with them). I also help run this group here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=59241511390. Of course, I'm also a Symbian enthusiast (currently own a black Nokia N97 - so I'm more active on that thread).

So, I've told Nokia about the really active group over here and proposed to them that it would be good to maybe host a meetup for Lowyat forumers with Nokia people to take some feedback on the phone, here what your suggestions are for future phones, and maybe have some fun games and prizes thrown in.

I'm just wondering if anyone would be interested in doing this? Currently looking at a Saturday (July 18?) from about 10:30 a.m. in the morning until 1:00 p.m. (lunch provided).

As Echo.Garden actually organised the first meet-up, I've also been talking to him for some advice.

Would really love to hear feedback and suggestions on what we could do for this meetup even.

Thanks for the positive response. smile.gif

At the moment there are no real details for the meet up yet, I'm just going to propose:

Date: 18 July 2009
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Venue: To be announced (Somewhere in KL)

Agenda:
- Introductions
- Short presentation by Nokia Product Manager
- Q&A session with Nokia Malaysia
- Games (and Prizes!)
- Lunch

We're thinking of making this a really casual & fun event to encourage people to talk and get to know one another, and also for people to get to know the Nokia folks in Malaysia.

Still open to feedback, ideas

And and .. is the GPS installed can use forever or need to pay after few days ?
*
The GPS receiver is hardware, means it will always be there and will always work.

GPS Software you've got a number of options:

Nokia Maps - this is pre-installed on the ROM and gives you free maps but Navigation (the thing with voice guiding you where to go) is a subscription service (means you pay for a license). If you're only going to use Maps to find places, and browse around the city, then you don't have to bother subscribing to Navigation. The latest beta of Nokia Maps (rebranded Ovi Maps) can be found Ovi Maps 3.0 Betahere and allows you to synchronise your favourite places with http://maps.ovi.com. So whatever you put on your phone appears online (when you log in) and whatever you mark online, can be on your phone.

Garmin - This is what a lot of people use because it is a one time payment for the software and the navigation that comes with it. Of course, new versions will need you to pay again to upgrade. I think community-wise, this has a larger community and consequently better maps. I think there's a sticky in the front of this thread to teach you how to get it installed on Nokia 5800 XPM.

Hey,

What did the Nokia people tell you at the service centre? Did you show them the problem and test it out there?

My suggestion, go to the NCC and show her your problem. Tell her your memory card has been reformatted already. If it's a simple fix, then ask her to reformat for u and see if i works after that. Which NCC is this by the way?

ANother thing, do you have the latest firmware 21.25 (i think?)

Hi david
any plans to do it away from KL; JB etc?
*
That's something we could look at doing in the future, but at this point for the first gathering, I think it makes sense to do it in KL first smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe a Nationwide tour of gatherings, haha!

@ Davidlian, make sure it is not LowYat Plaza because the place is really very crowded on sat and sun

Sure, I also want to avoid that place! Times Square? Or The Curve?
