I totally agree with this. Gerrard is more of a battering ram, his play is direct, relying on pace and power. Gerrard leads attacks, and mostly end up scoring them himself lol. Lucas is more disciplined and intelligent than Gerrard was at the same age. I agree Lucas is more similar to Cesc, Iniesta or Pirlo. They're more of a support type of players, they're pop up everywhere supporting attacks and keeps the ball rolling none stop. Today he played his best attacking game yet, how many times he ended up inside the box ? You will hardly see Alonso inside the box, but Lucas when he's up for it, is very aggressive and direct at supporting attacks. Hopefully he gets another run next week, defo looking forward to seeing him more next season - now that he's got more exprerience, and maturity.

I'd say Gerrard is a one-of-a-kind player. You don't find many players that play a similar style and role as him. The closest I could think of is probably Michael Ballack in his younger years. You need plenty of determination and work rate for a player like that.

Well, although both 2nd and 3rd place auto qualifies to the group stages of the CL, I think there is a difference in the prize money given out in the BPL, right?

Not to mention the seedings during the UCL Group Stage draw.

Rafa seems to be able to rile up that old man more than Mourinho could. I wonder why.

50 mil for tevez is close to impossible if it were true.

its been reported that he only has a transfer kitty of close to 25m and he needs to sell a few (sigh) to create a kitty of at least 50m.

that being said, I think Barry and Glen is on the way and a final offer to silva in the books. Albiol is also reported to have received a bid and until any of that happens, its still too early to tell.

50 million INCLUSIVE of his wages.

Torres is the fastest player to score 50 goals for Liverpool isn't he?

QUOTE(REDShaun @ May 28 2009, 10:51 AM)
it was a really entertaining game.

but, it just shows how quick a team like Barca can secure the kind of confidence with the 1st goal and then breaking the morale of Man U at the same time.

Could we have done better if we were in the final... maybe.. maybe not, but on a psychological scale we have beaten them before and we do have a spanish side that is used to playing and containing Barca's style. But then again we weren't fortunate enough to be in the final tongue.gif

anyway it was thoroughly enjoyable (not to see Man U lose.. i was actually hoping for a break in the jinx since the CL reformatted, doesn't matter if the farkers gloat abt it or not..dun really care), fast paced but at the end a little one sided.

Oh and for the record (or to some "ancient history") only 2 teams has secure the European Cup -" the then CL" back to back... Nottingham Forrest and yes, you guess it.. LIVERPOOL  notworthy.gif  icon_idea.gif

Anyway here is to hoping to a better next year and at least 1 last game the FA Cup.. I will be rooting for the Blues... LOL I know both sides are BLues, but u know which one i'm referring to  icon_rolleyes.gif

So many more options apart from Owen.

For the love of God, Rafa, don't let sentiments get the better of your judgment.

Kaka signed for Real Madrid, it seems. Currently the most expensive player in the world and soon to be eclipsed by Cristiano Ronaldo as reported. My, my, what a transfer market we have here. And Manchester City claims that they will be signing Tevez for 32million within these 2 days.

And here we are scratching our heads thinking if we should sign a disabled Bosman player. sad.gif

It doesn't work that way. Banks can't seize the players. Players are bound to the club in contractual terms.

Say if the company I'm working for goes into bankruptcy one day (touchwood), the banks do not have a right to seize me. They do have the rights to seize the owner though.

Saw these replies on RAWK regarding Ronaldo's transfer. It put a smile to my gloomy Monday.

QUOTE
Fact is FACT...they wouldn't have won their titles without him. He was the difference. Mancs know this in their heart of hearts and are terrified, all this 'glad he's gone' bullshit is comedic bravado. They are trembling.

Mancs have been taken down since we humiliated them in March. They crawled over the finishing line and won the title by our error, they talked themselves up as making history in Rome blah blah blah and then were taken apart in a manner that exposed the myth of the mighty Manchester United in a way that was just a sequel to our humiliation of them in their own home, and will be carved on their foreheads for a long, long time to come --- b****slapped on the biggest stage and with the biggest audience in world football apart from the World Cup final. They were taught a lesson, the gimps, oh the humiliation of it all.

The lustre is dissapearing, the Emperor has no clothes, Ronaldo abandoning them at the height of his powers, spitting in their face, just shows them up for the stinky tramp of a club that they are, if and when Vidic goes they will be even further humiliated and lowered.

Get Tevez when they're down writhing on the floor and strike next season, the time is right to crush them, devastate their self esteem even more.

QUOTE
IMO they won't put up for his posturing and on-field bullshit in Madrid like they did at United, even more so given the other egos that will be around him.
The arm-waving at team-mates and Platoon-esque gesticulations on his knees won't take long to turn the fans and players against him.
At the price, Madrid fans will be expecting him to be something akin to the messiah and I think the whole shebang is gonna get messy.

He simply does not give two f***s about anything or anyone but himself and that attitude won't cut it in Madrid. It's what he can get for himself that he lives for...he won't think twice about waving his arms at Kaka like he does to Fletcher.
The fans and the club's backers will demand a damn sight more than that and unless there is a dramatic change in personality, they won't get it.

QUOTE
I know what you're saying but to be fair, he's in a league of his own when it comes to cuntishness. Many are over-paid yes, and some are twats, but it's hard to think of any footballers who are that much of an arsehole without it biting them on the arse (Bowyer or Barton for example).

The problem with Ronaldo is that Ferguson, for all his reputed man management skills and tough guy image, basically sucked Ronaldo's d*** for 6 years and let his arrogance balloon out of control.

When people ask why Ronaldo would go from a club that's won the title three years in a row, won the European Cup and reached another final, to a club that's gone out in the last 16 consistently... it's obvious. Ronaldo believes that he won those trophies, not the club and he believes that he will do the same for Real Madrid. He wants to be the greatest player in the world and more than that, the greatest player ever.

His performance in what he knew was his last game for United, in the Final in Rome was all about him. He started at a hundred miles an hour, raining in shots, determined to win it on his own. He clearly wanted 2009 to be "The Ronaldo Final"... I'm sure he even saw himself picking up the trophy before the game kicked off... It was a shame for him (and a delight to a lot of others) that despite being one of the most talented players on the planet, he simply doesn't have the ability to lead or inspire a team. When Barca took control and passed United off the pitch it was everyone else's fault but his.

I doubt he'll be mourned in the United dressing room. They won't win as much but at least they won't have that c*nt tapping his watch and  hurrying up Rooney his driver during the next Munich press conference...

Click here for the thread. Very entertaining.
