It depends on the price. If Real can pay 20-30 million for Alonso, I think why not?
We have too many CMs anyway.
*
let's say we replaced alonso with <insert a name>. gerrard go back to CM and do alonso's job while players similar to <insert a name> do gerrard's job.

what happen when gerrard injured? expecting lucas doing passing instead of getting cards? laugh.gif

and what if both gerrard and <insert a name> both injured?

the key to win the league always is having players that can play well too during crucial moment.

replacing someone without similar ability like alonso is not such good idea.

i say instead of selling alonso, i will go for babel, pennant. Not to forget we got veronin who is doing well now whistling.gif

His wage is high.Plus, signing fee not cheap also...Rafa wanna get rid of him as soon as possible since we already have El Zhar as backup to Kuyt...

well, pennant is pretty selfish.
remember his demands of 60k a week to RM?
i think he was only earning around 30k with us?
guess he wants to wait out his contract to leave for free, so that without a transfer fee maybe he can ask for more salary from his new club.

REDS CONDEMN HILLSBOROUGH RADIO LIES

QUOTE
Liverpool Football Club have today issued a statement in response to the recent ill-informed and inflammatory comments made about the Hillsborough disaster by the London-born, US-based Radio presenter Steve Cohen.
The official statement reads: Liverpool Football Club totally condemns the comments regarding the Hillsborough disaster made by the radio and TV broadcaster Steve Cohen.

Mr Cohen has obviously never taken the time to read the Taylor Report which stated clearly that ticketless fans were not a contributory factor or responsible for the events of that day.

To use the 20th anniversary of the disaster to repeat false claims about Liverpool fans (which Mr Cohen first broadcast and then apologised for in 2006) is even more unacceptable.

The thing is, you don't sell all your good players just because of some new players who are yet to prove that they can be as good as those being sold.

How long we take until we found someone play well on the wing? Years and because a little profit, we are selling Riera off?

And alonso too, the understand between him and Mascherano is so well that they linked well with each other. The new partnership in the middle gonna take some time to gel together.Rafa is definitely taking a risk there.
*
There must be replacement if we want to get rid of some players.
We don't sell all players. That's for sure.
So, the logic is, we must get someone better than Riera before we sell him.

Last I heard, some Liverpool fans said Riera plays like shit. He is one of the cursed players (well, he's not alone, Rafa is being cursed too, Lucas is cursed too, the list goes on).

We can't keep too many central midfielders unless we can have 12 or 13 players on the field.
And we don't have many players with the price tag of 20-30m.

Well, if we can sell Pennant or Babel for 20-30m, I'd say why not?
Look, if we can sell Alonso and generate some fund for Tevez, I'd say why not?

We have many quality central midfielders. We don't need so many unhappy bench-warmers.

P/S If Gerrard & <insert name> got injured, I think Beneyoun can do the job. He's proven that.

P/S If Torres & Kuyt got injured, I think we don't have any quality player than can do the job. We need a scoring machine <insert name>.

You do not sell one of your car's tires to be able to afford a new spoiler. Especially if your spare tire is a few inches smaller.

And what's with the selling of Reira? Methinks he did pretty well, much more successful than some of Liverpool's recent wingers, no?

The scenario is, we sell redundant tires. We have many spare tires in central midfield.
We have players that can fill up the void space.
Gerard can do it. The cursed Lucas can do it. Of course, we have young players if we let them to have some first-team experiences.

I think Riera is good too.
As i said, if we can get good price for him + a better replacement, why not?
