QUOTE(visionary1993 @ Jun 20 2009, 12:49 AM) but seriously, I think if he wants to go he should go. I mean we can find better keepers if we want to. Still dreading when he hugged Andy Johnson against Everton instead of catching the ball and alot of other times too. True he has made incredible saves but which keeper hasn't? If one midfielder either Alonso or Masch goes out Gerrard can fill it in and i dream(again still in my dreams) Villa will partner Torres. Alright its still a dream. every team have a weakness point. manchester is goalkeeper , arsenal is center back, liverpool is fullback if finding a good keeper is so easy saf wont spend a penny on players such as carol, howard, kuszczak..... and reina worth every single 5m we spend

I think we should do all we can to keep Pepe. Good keepers are not easy to come by. Reina doesn't make too many amazing saves because he defuses the danger before it presents itself. His distribution from the back is also top notch. There aren't too many keepers like Reina around and this is pure fact. We do have promising young keepers like Bouzanis and Mihaylov coming through the ranks but Reina's command of his area and composure is second to none. It's not surprise he's pipped Valdez as Cassilas' deputy. Benitez did say he signed Spain's best goalkeeper back then and it doesn't look as though he made a false claim. Sure he's made a couple of errors but which keeper hasn't? The most important thing is that he had the mental strength to bounce back from these mistakes. It's been some time since we've had a reliable keeper since Ray Clemence. Grobbelar was eccentric and inconsistent. Mike Hooper pipped him in the pecking order for awhile but was never good enough to be no.1. David James' handling was abysmal though he was a pretty good shot stopper. Tony Warner was and still is crap. Michael Stensgaard had to retire early due to injury and never had the chance to break through. Brad Friedel was surprisingly released. Paul Jones was a good loan signing I felt but at his age, the move was never going to be permanent. Sander Westerveld completely lost it after his second season although he did with the La Liga after leaving. His form after that disintegrated and he disappeared completely. Jerzy Dudek was inconsistent and never quite comfortable coming off his line.
Keep Pepe please!

Anyway i think johnson will definitely go lpool if the offer is same since he can guarantee a starter at anfield but not stanford bridge. And btw, liverpool is ALWAYS BETTER than man utd from team spirit to fans to mentality. See how we crushed them 4-1? We're just lack of money. $$$

Ya keep Reina, he might not be the keeper that can do the most magnificent saves, but he's the keeper who can make the most contributions for the game. You can hardly find a commanding keeper that's as good as Pepe.

i disagree on selling arbeloa, unless if we have to. i think all we need is a good right back (glen?) to give him some competition. he aint that bad, jus sometimes his mind switched off for a moment, thus a few mistakes were made..

wooo...the yank boss has agreed to sell Montreal canadiens for 330M GBP...so whats next? shopping time?! but i dunno the canadiens are very successful...won the most stanley cups iirc...and by selling it off...im not sure about the repercussion tho...how would the fans in America view him? so he's just a businessman afterall? (soccernet quoted he made quite a bit by selling it at that price coz it was purchased at a much lower one....but i dunno how inflation, their spending on that franchise were so cant really tell if they made a profit out of that) i dont mind if the owners are jsut businessmen....if they are good businessmen...they will do all the right things....ie to get us better players and go all in for our EPL title coz that would sorta increase our 'successfulness' and will make alot $$$ from those glory hunters who will go on to buy all the club merchandises....oh not to mention EPL title WILL keep players w/o much increase in their contract (i hope most of our players play for the title....not like CR7...play for moonay)...and winning EPL has its prize money too... good times ahead?

heard about the deal of selling canadiens, but should we be happy or not that we still have them as owners? and should this mean that we have more money in buying players and not solely paying for the debts?

QUOTE Alonso not planning Anfield exit
Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso insists he is happy at the club, but the Spaniard has refused to rule out an Anfield exit this summer.
Alonso has recently been linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid amidst rumours of a rift between himself and Reds boss Rafael Benitez.
While Alonso has not ruled out a move away from Merseyside, the 27-year-old insists he is content at Anfield.
"I am happy at Liverpool but in football you cannot close the doors on anything because you don't know what will happen. I do not plan to go," he told El Pais.
"With Sami Hyypia already gone, I am one of the senior players alongside Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard.
"There was strong interest in me from Madrid (in 2004) but Liverpool came and that is where I went. It was not a wrong decision, not for me anyway. I have played at Liverpool, a special club, and grown as a player and won titles."
The 27-year-old also denied that his relationship with Benitez has deteriorated in light of the manager's indecision over his future last year.
"Each one has his own point of view. He is the manager and I try to do the best with what he tells me," Alonso added.
"We have a good professional relationship. We speak normally, saying what he wants from me and what I can give. He makes the decisions and we try to execute them.
"Last summer there was certain indecision and I did not know what was going to happen. I finished up playing well, though. I have had two quite complete seasons." If Alonso comes out he is happy life at Merseyside and if Real doesn't come with a formal interest it means he has to stay to the club. I highly doubt Rafa would cash him this season as last season he was one of best player. Definitely a professional although was treated poorly by Rafa last season.

villa already 27 years old and he worth really expensive i dont see any point of signing him unless he came a bit cheaper..
Added on June 21, 2009, 4:06 pmbenzema could be available for around £25million, even thou its quite hard to see him go to liverpool but i prefer benitez to bid for him rather than villa..

Wantaway Liverpool midfielder Mascherano set for Barca in £35m dealJavier Mascherano is set to leave Liverpool, with Barcelona preparing a £35million bid. The Argentine, 25, has told boss Rafael Benitez he needs to leave because his wife, Fernanda, is reluctant to return to England. Sportsmail exclusively revealed earlier this month that the midfielder was unsettled but Benitez had hoped to persuade him to stay. However, Fernanda is pregnant, has returned to South America with their daughter Iola and does not want to fly back. Benitez is understanding but still wants at least £35m for his midfield enforcer. Mascherano's agent, Walter Tamer, held talks on Wednesday with Barca general manager Raul Sanlehy and sporting director Txiki Begiristain, who will offer around £20m plus possibly striker Bojan Krkic. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...a-35m-deal.htmlThis post has been edited by solstice818: Jun 21 2009, 04:13 PM
