Is it worth the amount of $$ paid for electricity, just for your amp to sound (a bit) better?

Amps do need to run-in to perform its best. You'll be surprise some new amps need to run for weeks or months before it settles in! What is 24 hrs to audiophiles? Just to warm up the amp!

It depends on who you are asking, To a serious audiophile with systems running into tens or hundred of thousand $$$, what is a couple hundred $$$ of electricity a month to enjoy great sound!

Agrees. It will shortened the lifespan of every single of the components in it. Not to mention that adding carbon footprint too

Well, some amplifiers have standby mode which will not consume lots of electricity.

if yours is a new systems then yes, those components inside need to run in and slowly it'll sound better and better, there are discs in market that help you to do so in a shorter period of time, just on it for couple of hours everyday and you will hear the difference, but make sure you won b there when you play the disc as the disc is using different freq to speed up the run in process
