that is an engineering subject. there are ways to it. but it is very complicating, and I will probably be banned talking about the details u can google this as there are forums on this subject. Just becareful else your wii can be part of your house wall.
just wondering if u knew it was a japanese console before u bought it. there are so many choices out there and japanese convert to english it the least best choice. anyway, its my opinion

that's why i advocate buying unmodded wiis. not everybody like to tinker with their wiis. When I see some computer illeterate people buy modded wii, i will always say to myself sooner or later this guy will drop a question in forums asking why this and that not working. Actually, buying moddded wiis are an exception more then a norm in 1st world countries, and even in some 3rd world countries i know. Only in Malaysia it is terbalik, coz we are still living in the ps2 era where console games should be free.
btw, google some hacking website. there is a solution for your problem.

QUOTE(tek @ Nov 4 2009, 02:07 PM) When you mention region, does this include games that we buy off the shelves or only those downloadable games from nintendo? wii gmes are by region means games for one region cannot play on consoles from another region. This is for both shelves and downloadable games from nintendo. There are 4 regions: 1. US, 2. australia/europe 3. japan, 4. korean so an australian/european region console can't play us games, and vice versa. In malaysia most common are US games. so an australian wii can't play games that are bought in malaysia. but for downloadable games, it is not an issue. becuase u have an australian wii, the wii shop in the wii menu will automatically connect u to wii shop australia, which u can download wii games, which is of course australian region games.

yeah, if u buy from these regions, then u need to rely on buying your shelf games online. which to me sucks lah. coz usually when i decide i want to buy a game, i want it yesterday. but in malaysia, is about the same. coz when u want to buy a game, very high chance u won't get it until weeks later. that is why i hate being an original gamer in malaysia. In philippine i have no such problems on games availability. it seems like in malaysia, they encourage pirating.

just get an unmodded wii. if your gal is techie nerd and likes tinkering with her wii (and less time tinkering with u), then i guess modded is ok. but is good to support original because of the long term benefits. so if u don't mind, go for unmodded whatever d case.

that's the problem with modded. U buy it with a certain mod setup. different sellers mod it differently, so u can't say. But the more chinaman the seller, the older the mod version is. but they will give u 15 or so free games which are old games, and of course all will work. is the newer games that might not work. then u tinker lah, until the new games work. and don't be surprise that now the new games work, the old games pula don't work. so tinker again lah. neverending story.
if u casual player, modded is good la, but not if u hardcore. coz casual players they just have that 15 or so free games, then they happy for life. don't need to buy new games anymore.

is partly nintendos fault when comes to piracy. people are people, if there is a way to not spend rm180 for their game they will do it, coz the number of hours they spend on piracy modding still cost less then rm180. look at ps3, do u see the games displayed in plastic binders? wii better learn from playstation in combating piracy. i believe they have learnt. Wii 2 will be nearly piracy proof.

i think the software price is pretty reasonable already. do the math. USD 50 * 3.5 lebih kurang rm 180. some say u can't compare usd and rm. but the games are imported, so u can't sell it less. but u see, not every shop sells it at rm 180. I still see some sell it at rm200 up to rm215, especially out of kl.

your wii is a modded machine, and the update created the problem. He will need to do some softmod patches to make it good again. rule of thumb, is don't update your modded wii, or better still don't mod your wii. these are one of the risks of modding your wii. 1k is a bit too much from my opinion, but there really isn't an official price for these kind of work. u can try to diy from visiting hacking forums, but risk of this it might make the problem worst. the cheapest is try to find a friend that can help u for teh tarik.
btw, if you console is hardmodded (meaning it have a chip in it) and absolutely no softmodding at all, simply by removing that chip will solve the problem. u can ask the same guy about this who quote u 1k.

eh? u r right dragonfly, he probably bricked it. when i read 1k, in my mind it was 100rm. 1k is about the cost of a new console. anyway, red bricks r getting out of fashion.

yeah, whatever nintendo does, modders will find a way over time. but u notice its getting harder from piracy modders? u must be technically able to be a softmodder. and for some games u can't solely rely on hardmod, u need to top-up with softmod.
nothing will change lah till wii 2 is out. but i hope this site can at least educate the new wii owners about the benefit of unmodded wii.

congrats man! i don't want to sound like i am establishing a unmodded wii club , coz i am not. but i am glad this site made a difference, even if small.
wil 2 ha. no lah. but i dengar rumour from the industry christmas next year. coz when project natal and itu sony wand kicks in chrismas next year, wii need to go HD already. but i personally think it will be 2011 christmas, not 2010 christmas, coz when microsoft and sony will not able to get market share immediately with their new offerings. anyway, don't take my word, but if i am right, then give me credit je lah

shake it baby. hmm, but no. i have no plans setting up a wii dance club here.
i think so, the latest hottest party 3 supports the balance board. i don't think there is any other dance game that support balance board. but the one where u dance with your hands (i.e wiimote) got a few - boogie superstar, and just dance are the better ones.

i tried my wii on a 32 inch lcd tv with the default cables. don't look that bad actually. i guess it all boils down to expectations. if your don't expect ps3 like graphics u won't be dissapointed. my expectation was it should be better then my 22 inch tube tv, and it was clearly better.
