Hie guys, I would appreciate it if anyone could answer a few queries i have.

I'm used to buying original stuff, so I'm not that familier with mods or whatever.
But in Penang is kinda hard to get an unmodded wii (the nintendo section in Jusco closed down.) and I don't really trust the courier services in Malaysia.

I just wanna know, if I buy a modded korean version, I can still play original games and connect online with them? And also access wii channels?

kyo can send ur wii to u if u buy from him...smile.gif

if u're not into those techy stuff and not keen on always being careful each time u're connecting ur wii online, then i wouldn't recommend u on getting a modded wii. If u're adventerous...go ahead icon_rolleyes.gif

modded korean can potentially do all an unmodded wii can do, but there is a catch. the shop may not give u in perfect order (they r usually a few years behind the mod scene), so out of the box certain things won't work. and to make it work is a real hassle. unmodded wii strongly recommended for you

Don't trust Pos Laju. But trust my courier service (which cost me more than 100 bucks but I can give it free. tongue.gif)

Korean Wiis actually have a much higher margin.

The courier is based on negotiations. It was a tough one, but thank god I managed to pull it off.

good value added service. i like that. that's is why la everybody sells korean wii. they get higher profit margin, and less hassle in stocking. and who cares nobody will know the difference between korean and original anyway. until its too late that is. this is new malaysia's "look north" policy

edit : ok ok look east. korea is still in the east kinda

I'm from Penang too and what you said is true. 9 out of 10 games shop will sell only modded Korean set. The only available store in Jusco also closed.
It is really pity as i believe a lot of people still looking for unmodded set. You can try some games shop at Queensbay as I bought some original stuff from there (power adapter).

If you buy a modded Korean set, even though you are playing original games, it may also bricked your Wii because some games will automatically update your system menu.
At the end, you still need to use other program like neogamma to disable the system update.

It is still troublesome and risky. Best is to get unmodded, less hassle.

not 9 out of 10. more like 99 out of 100. and i don't believe 99 out of 100 customers prefer korean. i just don't believe malaysians are so cheap.

Hey guys, total gaming/Wii noob here. The reason I'm here is cause my mom recently went over to one of her friend's place and had a great time playing with their Wii. She was like 'this is a great fun way to exercise!'

So erm yea, I just wanna know, if i just wanna get a set for my mom, with a couple of basic games (like cutesy fun exercisey kinda games, definitely not Monster Hunter), what kinda set should I go for and how much would it cost? I don't really need anything fancy, don't need to go online update etc etc. I just want something that can play out of the box, nothing complicated, sorry for the noobness, seriously.

u can still buy from lyn sellers. u can buy modded, or buy unmodded, and get the seller to mod it for u. just make sure its not a korean set. u can contact kyoyogami or visit http://forum.lowyat.net/Games.

think the price is about rm9xx.

thanks for the reply bro. What i meant to ask actually was like, what kinda set should I get? modded/unmodded or what? like if I never need to use it for going online etc, maybe the cheaper unmodded version will be enough.. or something like that. & what's a korean set btw?

if ur mother would just like to exercise..the US wii came bundled with wii sports smile.gif

next mother's day, u can buy her wii motion plus with wii sport resort (add another controller if u want to join in)

next on her birthday buy her wii fit smile.gif

enough exercising fun for the whole family smile.gif

Added on July 20, 2010, 11:39 pmi'd recommend an unmodded set since ur getting for ur mother...i dun believe she knows the modding thingy that well smile.gif

p/s: yes u can accidentally mess up ur modded wii if in future some games hide those updates n cripple ur wii thru the game disc n not even going online.

1. unmodded is also known as original wii. its hassle free and pure. but it also means no pirate games but its ok.
2. modded means someone tamper with it before u buy. the reason people still buy is quite obvious i think u also know.
3. modded wii is not hassle free to maintain. don't aspect to have your cake and eat it too. if u still adamant to get a modded set then expect hassle like bringing it back to the shop when certain things don't work. the topic of modded is complicated. so if u want to know more just google it, but beware it can confuse u. korean set just adds to the confusion. just don't buy it or your hassle will be maximised.
4. what do i recommend? i am not you. but if i am me i recommend original wii. but if i am you...how? i am sure if u don't ask these q and just simply buy u will buy a modded wii. and most people are caught unaware of the hassles that follows. but at least u are aware now

And ur due to get ur Wii Sports Resort from me. tongue.gif

Anyhoo, I find it a little quirky that people don't mind having their wii's botched even before they get to play them. It really makes me wonder why they don't prefer something that's fresh out of the oven.
