wasted my time to go all the way there. The specky guy said need to take 1 day to check what's wrong with the iphone...of coz i dont want to leave my phone there..
then he said to clean the water damage need at least 4 hours!
i m not going there anymore!
went to One utama idevice, they just check everything right in front of me and told me what's the problem and the repair time and cost..in less than 20 mins...

Congrat that u saved ur iPhone at there.
But in 20 min time of repairing water damage. Let's hopefully the technician did unsolder all the metal cover off the board and do chemical clean to prevent further damage.

The whole process need to be done proper instead of quick. U want your iPhone working now and problem come later is not our way to repair anymore.

i wrote similar case like yours. Months later the customer (like u) ended up with motherboard spoiled as excuse from "that" shop and sent into our shop to motherboard repair.

Not 20 mins to repair the phone...its 20 mins to open the phone right in front of you and diagnose and quote the repair cost - free somemore..
need at least 2 days to do the actual cleaning+repairing+ testing everything is alright before giving the phone back to me..
ur technician don't even wanna look at the phone..the whole shop no customer also dun wanna check to see how damage inside..like dont wanna do biz.
no confidence to leave my phone with u guys..

20 min opened iphone and quoted u repair cost with time we already smell its funny job.. most ppl should know what's funny.
Youtube already many this kind of related issue.. well known trick for those dealer.
20 min is the point.

now u said he doesn't want look at the phone and he told u four hours to do the checking..

Short version about why 20 min to quote price is funny. Unless quoted u crazy price without knowing exact which part damaged.

1. Gentle open it up and take out the board.
2. Unsolder all the metal shield with heat station.
3. Proper cleaning and dry should be 15 to 30 min.
4. At the same time, put in another working board on it to test every other parts like camera, charger port, buttons...
5. Take the cleaned board to plug in power supply and read the respond. See any voltage leak.
6. Before try to power on. Measure all FPC on the board by multi-meter. Make sure it's within original manufacture reading. This can also prevent further damage if something still not fix and turn on.
7. others step i no need write.. because above steps already consumed lots of time..



Don't misunderstand that i'm here to argue or judge. So glad u mention this here and i just need write article on blog about how to check water damaged iPhone with youtube video.
Let students that beside my shop to know what happened at that day and what should tell customer next time..
Because this is first case my shop got ppl had trust issue with water damaged job. Customer might use their imagination how it should be done like Nokia 3310 era.
Some ppl just want earn fast $ can be so damaging. Wonder how long they stay in this field..
