Fumi and Akira were best friends when they were little, with Akira always looking after the crybaby Fumi, but that all ended when Fumi's family moved away. Several years later, Fumi's family returned, and she and Akira happened to bump into each other on their way to school. They became friends again, quickly slipping back into old patterns. Shortly after, Fumi began dating a cool, attractive upperclassman who, coincidentally enough, had ties to Akira's current school, the prestigious Fujigatani Girls' Academy.

The official website for J.C. Staff's television anime adaptation of Takako Shimura's Aoi Hana yuri manga has launched with a staff list and a promotional video. (In the linked page, select the blue "Play" button to play the video.) The video has no actual animation footage.

Kenichi Kasai (Honey and Clover, Kimikiss pure rouge, Nodame Cantabile) will direct, and Fumihiko Takayama (Gunparade March, Orguss 02, Yomigaeru Sora - RESCUE WINGS -) will supervise the scripts. Masayuki Onchi (Cromartie High School , Daa! Daa! Daa!, Mirmo Zibang!) is designing the characters. The manga has been running in Ohta Books' Manga Erotics F magazine since 2004, and three volumes have been compiled and published.
