QUOTE(steve1031 @ May 12 2009, 02:26 PM) Hey guyz, Recently i had bought a new NDSi and it is imported from Japan Simple problem really and also faced by others who imported the DS from places like USA (I'm one of them...). All you need is a transfomer (no, not optimus) from pretty much any hardware shop. Should cost you about RM30 or so. That transfomer would then change our Malaysian 240v to the 110v that your charger uses. Can we bought a new charger which is for 240v to replace it???? or any other suggestion??? Hope I got the terms correct though... |

Can we buy a new adapter which is 240v to replace the 110v one (the original) rather than buy a transformer from hardware shops??Hope I got the terms correct though... Cause i heard from my friend said " all you need to do is juz buy a 240v charger. since NDSi not going to use "240v" or "110v" to run that machine all its need is downgraded it and charge your battery only". |

The choice is yours, either way works. I myself would get a transformer since I would have other use for it as well.

If you want, there's the Australian NDSi third party charger I saw today at EBGames. AUD18. Only thing is, the charger socket pin is Australia, so you need an adapter for that. Australian voltage is the same as Malaysian.

EU also uses 220~240v like us here in Malaysia. So getting EU ones you are set to go. But like string mentioned, the pin is different, just get an adapter.
Added on May 12, 2009, 5:36 pmSorry EU = European This post has been edited by gundamalpha: May 12 2009, 05:36 PM |

No. The Japanese NDSi charger only converts 110V, not Malaysia's 220-240V. Using that Japanese charger will be disastrous because of the wrong voltage rating on your included Japanese NDSi charger. You either need to use a stepdown transformer to bring down the voltage to 110V before you plug it into the Japanese charger, or buy a separate charger that does that voltage conversion by itself, such as the one used by the European and Australasian countries which adopts the 220-240V rating on their power sockets.Added on May 12, 2009, 5:37 pmhehe... I had no problem on the pin... ^ ^ |

Anyway, actually i had bought the charger just now from Sg. Wang. which that guyz said its suitable for the voltage in M'sia. But that time i still wondering whether is it suitable for my NDSi??? So i need a confident from everybody before i tried to my NDSi... Since that charger (Made in China, on the box wrote AC-240v.. on the charger is wrote some kind of japanese words....) even he had tried on his NDSi...
Anyway Hopefully today i can play my NDSi cuz i had bought it for a week and i dint touch it yet |

If he tried it on his without the infamous "blue smoke with sulphur smell", then it should be fine. IIANM, the adapter should accept 220-240V and downconverts and feeds 5V into the DSi.

In other words the third-party charger you bought is supposed to receive 110V, which is the same as the one you got with your DSi.Just get a stepdown transformer; it's a much easier and cost-effective way This post has been edited by colinwong89: May 12 2009, 07:33 PM |
