Some people here have recommended reading The Edge and Personal Money. I want to ask, what's the difference between The Edge online edition from theedgemalaysia.com vs the hard copy? I'm considering whether to subscribe 1 year or not. Also, is this allow for tax relief of RM1000 for books?

Can someone enlighten me why the minority interest share of profit is larger than the other holders' share of profit?
GCorp Profit for the year = RM64.657 million Attributable to: Equity holders of the parent = RM14.190 million Minority interest = RM50.467 million This post has been edited by simplesmile: May 13 2009, 07:06 AM |

QUOTE(Kinitos @ May 13 2009, 08:08 AM) Gcorp is in property development industry. Its normal for this kind of companies to have registered a company for one each project for some protection. I assume GCorp has several of these companies so called subsidiaries, whereby Gcorp having at least 50% shareholding. The numbers you are looking at is from P & L group reporting which means GCorp has more subsidiary more making bigger profits than the parent company itself i.e GCORP. This group profit must take out the portion of profit that does not belong to Gcorp shareholders. I see. Makes sense. Thanks. |

QUOTE(Junior83 @ May 13 2009, 09:51 AM) Now is like playing stock on the sword edge.. bcareful... even there is a rally, i doubt it will be the last b4 pullback People keep saying got pullback... but really, I've been waiting for it for 1 1/2 months already, still no major correction. Maybe this bull will last 3 months, then bear comes and reign another 3 months. |

Rumor in the KNM thread he's on board the KNM boat. So... is this good or bad? If he's really frying KNM, how high do you think he'll go?
QUOTE(Grengo01 @ May 13 2009, 04:42 PM) You mean what was REPCO.... big history this counter... fry till three figure per share... owner back then was fondly known as Repco Tan... what I remember was he was responsible for frying the stocks so high when the company was a second boarder.. those were the days.. second boarders were punters favourite... fry fry fry.. non-stop... then wok broke... QUOTE(omores @ May 13 2009, 04:48 PM) Repco Lau right? Hahaha, that guy is like urban legend now. QUOTE(Grengo01 @ May 13 2009, 05:20 PM) Lau or Tan.. hmm.. now am not too certain... but certainly the Master Chef fryer of almost every second boarder that rose like rocket beyond the reach of an ordinary Malaysian... hundred over ringgit per share... Those were the days... Granite, Lien Hoe, Idris, Kemayan, Kamunting... all rose from ashes... my friend's uncle need to reopen his safe and dust the share certs to sell after holding them for years.. suddenly the papers are valuable again. |

QUOTE(whizzer @ May 13 2009, 11:15 PM) From reading past tips from forumers, its seems like we only know the peak after it happens. So far, from what I observe, we determine the peak ourselves & then determine when we want to exit (Target Price). Similar for bottom (determine exit price). The rest involves having balls of steel http://www.marketwatch.com/story/petrochin...k-energy-stocksThere are numerous articles regarding how you can daytrade. Investopedia article.
